Lansing Sickles Obituary

Sickles, Lansing "Sonny" RAVENA Lansing E. "Sonny" Sickles, 90, passed away peacefully at home Monday, December 9, 2013 with his loving family by his side. Sonny was a US Navy Veteran serving during World War II on the USS Colorado. He was a hard working man sometimes holding three jobs. He had worked for the Watervliet Arsenal, F.F. Crannell Lumber Co. in Delmar, and retired from Penn Central Railroad and Atlantic Cement Co. Sonny's greatest joy in life was his family, always finding time to do things for them and with them. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Rose A. (Domanico) Sickles; children, Donna Sickles, Lansing (Debra) Sickles Jr., Tracey Sickles-Kane, Raymond (Valerie) Sickles and John Sickles; eight grandchildren, Amber, Amanda and Max, Sydney, Sawyer and Spencer, Audrey and Mallory; five great-grandchildren, Donovan, Chloe, Nehemiah, Kirah and Kaci; sisters, Diana Krzanik and Gladys Sickles; and many nieces and nephews. Sonny was predeceased by his granddaughter, Seana Hazelton; sisters, Mabel Legg, Idella Legg and Catherine Gunner; and his brother, Raymond Sickles. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 14 at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Coeymans. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. In memory of Sonny, the family wishes for contributions to be made to St. Peter's Cancer Fund, St. Peter's Foundation, 319 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208, in appreciation of the care they provided to his son John.
