Swanteck, Lillian M. (McGovern) RENSSELAER Lillian M. McGovern Swanteck, age 90, of Forbes Avenue, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Van Rensselaer Manor in North Greenbush. She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late James and Lillian Busch Welsch and lived in Rensselaer all of her life. She was a graduate of Rensselaer High School. Lillian was employed as a clerk for the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance and was also employed by Staats Express and Sterling Drug Co. in Rensselaer. She was a member of the Van Rensselaerities and was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Rensselaer. Lillian was an extremely active member of the Rensselaer Senior Citizens Center serving as past president. She enjoyed her senior center line dance group and was a member of the Yankee Doodle Entertainers. She enjoyed relaxing during senior center trips. She received senior citizens awards from Rensselaer and Albany Counties. Her hobbies include gardening, painting and crossword puzzles. She loved her dogs especially "Putsy Baby." Lillian was a founding member of The Rensselaer Boy's Club Ladies Auxiliary. Wife of the late James McGovern and Joseph Swanteck. Mother of James (Barbara) McGovern of East Schodack, Conrad (Carol) McGovern of Castleton and the late Carol Pierce; mother-in-law of David Pierce of Rensselaer; grandmother of James, Michael and Patrick McGovern, Colleen Winglosky, Jonathan, Eric, Daniel Pierce, Barbara Agans, Matthew, Aaron and Elizabeth McGovern. Great-grandmother of Julia, Bryan, Jayme, Jeffery, Heather Mc-Govern, Allie, Gregory and Kevin Winglosky, Thelonius, Nathaniel and Lilly Pierce, Isaac, Rowan and Henry Goca, Maxwell and Quinn McGovern. Sister of the late James, Frank, William, Florence, and Milton Welsch and Evelyn McCormick. Good friend of Elizabeth Clarke. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer Saturday morning at 9:30 and 10:30 at St. Joseph's Church, Third Street, Rensselaer where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Blooming-rove Cemetery Defreestville. In Lillian's memory contribution in her name may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
