Mark Osborn Obituary

Osborn, Mark E., M.D.
ALBANY - Mark E. Osborn, M.D., 65, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester, N.Y., surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 27, 1959, he was the cherished son of the late William Osborn, Jr. and Nan (Dean) Osborn. He graduated from Shenendehowa High School, class of 1977. Mark realized early on that he wanted to be a pediatrician, and after graduating magna cum laude from Union College in 1981, he attended the University of Vermont Medical School. He then completed his pediatric residency at Albany Medical Center and received Albany Medical Center's first Otto Faust Award for Excellence in Teaching and Patient Care.
Mark started his career in pediatrics in private practice with Dr. Connie Glascow in Clifton Park, N.Y. In 1990, he became Medical Director at St. Mary's Health Center for Children and Adolescents in Troy, N.Y. In 1993, Mark began his 30-year tenure as Chief of Pediatrics at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y. It was his passion to provide care for the underserved populations in Albany. In conjunction with his administrative position, Mark practiced in two pediatric clinics, including St. Peter's Health Center for Children and the Family Health Center in South Albany. He became a well-known member of the South Albany community, providing care to two and sometimes three generations of families.
Mark's dedication and selfless nature have been consistently acknowledged by his colleagues and the families he served. He was recognized as the 2019 CDPHP Pediatrician of the Year, and in 2023, he was honored by the Albany Medical Center Family Medicine Resident Program with the Community Preceptor of the Year award.
Mark was known for his warmth, strength, and unwavering devotion to family. His daughters, both human and canine, brought him immense joy, and he treasured every moment he spent with them. He had an extraordinary ability to sustain meaningful friendships from every stage of his life, and was fortunate to marry his best friend and soulmate in 2019. His kind and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on everyone he helped and loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet M. Tiberia, of Albany, N.Y.; his two daughters, Olivia G. Osborn, of Latham, N.Y., and Deanna R. Osborn, of Peru, Mass.; and his stepdaughter, Sarah J. Carmody, of Boston, Mass. He is also survived by his mother; his siblings, Teri (Michael) Fredericksen, of Ballston Spa, N.Y., William (Shannon) Osborn, of Yorba Linda, Calif., Thomas (Katherine) Osborn, of Clifton Park, N.Y.; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mark's family Friday, February 28, 2025, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, N.Y. 12206. A Prayer Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only.
A non-denominational celebration of Mark's life will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Church in Albany, on Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mark's name can be made to the Ronald McDonald House or Canine Rescue of Ulster County.

Dr Osborn was my pediatrician my whole life up until I turned 18. He was an angel of a doctor and lit the fire in me to pursue medicine. The world would be a much better place with more people like Dr Osborn. We all love, Miss, and Cherish him.

Dr. Mark Osborn was a angel sent from heaven. He provided amazing care with honesty and love for each of my children all 6 of them. He was my family doctor for 26 years this included my grandchildren as well so this hurt us deeply. My 7 yr old son ask my why did he leave us l told him that God needed his son to oversee us from the spirit realm now. His response was so he's helping YESHUA protect and l said yes with tears in my eyes. As he wiped my tears away with his little hands he said he's always with us in our hearts mommy .

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Mark Osborn. His service to the community was unmatched, and his kindness, dedication, and compassion touched so many lives, including my own. As a child, I had the privilege of being one of his many patients, and when I became a mother, I was honored to continue that tradition with my own two children.
I remember when the practice moved to Patroon Creek, and I asked Dr. Osborn why he didn't he go. He simply said, " It's simple! Because I serve families who don't have the means to make it up there, and who would I be if I left them behind? So I'll stay, for them!" That was the kind of man he was-selfless, devoted, and unwavering in his commitment to those who needed him most.
I last saw Dr. Osborn in January for my son, and he wasn't feeling well. For the first time, he let me hug him, and I told him to get better. That moment will stay with me forever.
Dr. Osborn wasn't just a doctor, he was a guiding light for so many families, a steady and compassionate presence in times of need. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed.

With love and gratitude,
Nadina Turner

Our family met Dr. Osborn when I brought my newborn son in 2005. Right from the start, we knew how fortunate we were to have found the perfect pediatrician. He was so kind and easy to talk to. As my son went for visits each year, they would always talk about his future interest in becoming a doctor someday. Dr. Osborn would let him try out his stethoscope, which he always loved. I took my son for his final pediatric physical once he turned 18 and asked Dr. Osborn if we could get a photo of them together at the end of the visit, which he kindly did. That day was not only my son's final pediatric visit, but also the last day the Madison office would be open before moving. We will always have fond memories of Dr. Osborn and will never forget his kind and gentle spirit. We are sending our sympathy and prayers to his wife and family.

Dear Janet,
I am so very sorry for your loss. You will be in my thoughts and prayers
as you navigate through this difficult time.
Mark was a rare individual and very special, all those who were involved with him either at work or in his life knew that.
You are a very lucky person, to have been such a big part of his life. His memory will always be a blessing to You and your Family.
He was a pleasure to work for
and I always remembered the times when I ran into him at the Hospital, after I returned there after working at 1240.
I hope to see you at the services.
Sincerely, Claire

I not only had the privilege of working with Mark but my children were patients of his. He saw my family through a very scary time when my oldest daughter was diagnosed with cancer. He always checked in on her and the rest of my family to make sure we were doing ok. Mark always had a smile for us and was quite the jokester with my youngest. They played hide and seek until she was ready for him to see her. He always knew exactly what was going on with my girls sometimes without even examining them. He will truly be missed by my whole family. Rest in peace Mark. My prayers go to your whole family and the families that you took such amazing care of. There will never be another like you.
