Mary McNulty Obituary

McNulty, Mary M. GREEN ISLAND Mary M. McNulty, 72, died peacefully on Friday, November 5, 2021, at the VanRensselaer Manor with her family and her best friend by her side. Born in Green Island, daughter of the late John J. McNulty, Jr. and Madelon Reinfurt McNulty, she resided in Green Island most of her lifetime. Mary was a graduate of the former St. Joseph's School in Green Island, the former Keveny Academy in Cohoes and St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing in 1969. Mary was an outstanding registered nurse for 40 years, most of those years at St. Peter's Hospital in the Emergency Room. In later years, she also worked at Samaritan Hospital in Troy and the Albany County Nursing Home in Colonie. She had been a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Green Island until its closing in 2010. Mary missed her fur babies, JJ, Snoops and Teddy. Mary is survived by her siblings, Jack (Marge) McNulty, III, former Congressman Michael (Nancy) McNulty and Ellen (Mark Ryan) McNulty-Ryan, all of Green Island. Her brother Bill was killed in action in Vietnam in 1970. Mary is also survived by many nieces and nephews, especially her niece and caregiver, Kristin Swinton and her grandniece, Madelon Swinton. She is also survived by her dear friend of over 40 years, Jane Conron of Colonie. Funeral services will be private from the Parker Brothers Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be beside her parents, her brother Bill and her grandparents in the family lot in Albany Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or contributions, please perform a random act of kindness in memory of Mary to help make this world a gentler place to live. Mary was a good friend of mine at Keveny. She would have us over ( Mary, Mimi, Donna, Kristin, Karen and me) or attend our sleepovers on weekend nights, or after a Friday night game, and we would play games, Ouija board, levitate each other, and have lots of fun!
We went our separate ways in college and afterwards, but I will always remember her laughter and wit! Of course, we were in same homeroom and classes for ou 4 years.
I pray for her safe passing to Jesus´ side! God bless and keep mary safe in heaven.

My condolences to all of you. I knew Mary when I would lead a small Jewish Sabbath service at Albany County NH. Because the service included grape juice and hallah, an RN needed to be present. Mary would volunteer to be our RN. She enjoyed being there, and sometimes would ask respectful questions afterwards. I enjoyed having her supportive presence. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her and benefitted from her care.

With sympathy and prayers in your loss of Mary. My memories are of her as a nursing student and later, as a compassionate, dedicated nurse with a dry humor. Her nursing ministry at St. Peter´s Hospital is her legacy to the community. Peace is yours, Mary
