Mary Ross Obituary

Ross, Mary Anne
QUEENSBURY - Mary Anne Ross, 77, passed peacefully on October 5, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Victor G. Ross, and cherished partner of Mark Bremser.
Abundantly blessed, her life was filled with joys and sorrows. She loved her family and her many friends. She had a special place in her heart for all her math students she taught in her 31 year teaching career in the Guilderland School District.
She was our families' true matriarch, holding our extended family together through multiple generations. Mary Anne was an excellent cook and the Queen of every Italian family gathering. Entertaining brought her much joy. She loved hosting family and friends during holidays and on special occasions, first at her home in Altamont, and later in her Queensbury retrofitted garage, which she converted into an entertainment center affectionately called "La Cucina." Her celebrations were legendary, filled with warmth, great food, and lasting memories for everyone in attendance.
Mary Anne loved Ogunquit, Maine and spent countless weeks in every season. Whenever it was a crisp and spectacularly blue-sky day, you could hear her say, "It's a Maine Day," She shared her love of Maine first with her husband Vic, and later with Mark and her extended family and friends, who often joined her there.
Mary Anne returned to her roots in Whitehall when she moved to Queensbury and volunteered many years as a tour guide at the Skene Manor where she enjoyed meeting people, keeping local history alive and organizing the Manor's annual successful basket party fundraiser.
Gardening, swimming, reading, playing games, especially cards and Mahjongg, and traveling were some of her other passions. Mary Anne loved to do the New York Times Spelling Bee where she reigned as Queen Bee for an incredible 731 days in a row!
She cherished all her great nieces and nephews from the time they were born. She was fondly referred to as Aunt Mimi.
Mary Anne was predeceased by her parents, John and Esther Ross of Whitehall, N.Y.; her husband, Victor G. Ross of Queensbury; her brother, John J. Ross II of Lake George; and her sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Kuster of Wolschwiller, France.
Mary Anne is survived by her partner, Mark Bremser; her sister, Jean Ross Huntington and her brother Frank (Karen) Ross; her sister-in-law, Lesley Ross; her brothers-in-law, Chris Ross, Gerald (Patty) Ross and Dennis (Angela) Ross. She leaves behind her nieces and nephews who adored her. Matthew (Amy) Huntington, Caitlyn (Jon) Pease, John Ross III and partner Jen, Mia (Ehsan) Yousefzadeh, James (Emily) Ross, Justin Ross, Elizabeth Ross, Jenny Kuster and her partner Eron, Joel Kuster, Grace (Dorian) Sanders and David Ross. Mary Anne is also survived by Mark's brothers and their families. She is survived by many cousins who were part of her extended family and by caring friends.
Her legacy is the lasting imprint she made on all the lives she touched. Her warmth, kindness, generosity, fun-loving spirit and love are irreplaceable. She will be dearly missed.
A special thank you to all who supported her through her illness.
At the request of Mary Anne, there will be no services. A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future.

Mary Anne was a friend and esteemed colleague during her years teaching 8 th grade math and Math 1 at Farnsworth Middle School in Guilderland.
Her students always came first and she gave herself completely to their success. Mary Anne was also a loyal friend and staunch teacher unionist in the early days of collective bargaining and teacher rights and empowerment. She talked the talk but more importantly she walked the walk. Few can equal her commitment to anything she embraced. A life well lived.
