Matthew Coleman Obituary

Coleman, Matthew J. HALFMOON Matthew J. "Matt" Coleman, 57, died on Sunday, March 19, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Niskayuna, and educated in the Mechanicville School District, he is the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Coleman. Matt was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and later worked for the United States Postal Service. He was an avid New York Giants fan, loved to read, was a communicant of the Northway Church and was incredibly devoted to his wife and children. Matt is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Sweeney Coleman; and his beloved children, Erin Coleman and Timothy Coleman. He is also survived by his siblings, Dr. Patrick (Debra) Coleman, Dennis Coleman, Michael Coleman, Mary Coleman and Teresa (Dennis) Hayner; his mother-in-law, Phyllis (the late James) Sweeney and several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Those wishing to remember Matt in a special way may make memorial contributions in his name to the Jonathan Carey Foundation, 90 Delaware Ave. Delmar, NY 12054. Funeral services for Matt will be held on Friday, March 24, at 9 a.m. at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday, March 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with full military honors.
