Matthew Murnane Obituary

Murnane, Matthew Jr.
THE VILLAGES, Fla. - Matthew passed away on January 13, 2025. He was born on Long Island to Matthew and Evelyn Murnane (deceased). He grew up in Greenwich and graduated from Greenwich High School. Matthew began his career washing cars, and with hard work, determination, and a tireless work ethic, rose to become the general manager of a successful multi-million-dollar auto dealership in New York. Matthew's life was much more than work. In his earlier years, he took great pride in coaching his daughters' softball teams. He was a lifelong and devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. Following his retirement, he volunteered at his local senior center to teach AARP defensive driving. He loved living in The Villages, traveling and many activities, although he was restricted greatly in the last few years by physical limitations.
Matthew was predeceased by his granddaughter, Nora; and his first wife, Sandra. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Kathy; his son, Matthew III; daughters, Ann (Bruce MacIntosh), Donna (Daniel Gowie) and Erin (Michael Ghent). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, Violet; nephews, nieces, and his beloved dog, Lovey.
A celebration of life for Matthew will be held on Saturday, May 17, at 1 p.m., at the Orange Blossom Hills Country Club in The Villages, Fla. Friends and family are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Matthew's honor may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a cause he deeply believed in and supported.
