Buddy you will forever be my sarcastic no BS brother from another mother. I love you like I would my own brother and I am so sorry I never made to the hospital to see you when you were sick. Just remember I am going to tell all of our friends you used to leave Pabst Blue Ribbon in your camp fridge so no one would sneak in and drink your beer. You have left a whole in my friendship role that wont be able to be replaced. Please watch over us and bust are stones every chance you get with a smile but please keep us safe. Love you forever Hynesy!

To the family of Mr. Hynes, namely his beloved daughter, Lauren -

To me, his name was always "Mr. Hynes." My father worked with yours at Schenectady Fire, and I grew up hearing stories of Michael's exceptional skills as a medic. As time passed, my father, Steve, grew ill, and Mike was never far away - helping us with arrangements, advising us as to possibilities, and offering me personally some of the best wisdom I have ever received. I cried yesterday reading about your father, because when I hear the name "Mike Hynes" my mind immediately pictures the man at the alter at my fathers memorial mass, holding an American flag, like a statue, for an hour, in uniform, in an overcrowded, overheated church. He did that for my father... he paid his respects in front of all by serving him and his family, literally, one last time. He even continued to bring my family flowers for the next two years on the anniversary of his passing. The thoughtfulness your father demonstrated was rare, and I personally will never forget.

You must be a wonderful person, Lauren, because to have had a father 'like Mike' must've been a gift in itself.

I am here for you if you ever wish to reach out to me. - Guy Waltman

"Mike was the most giving, kind, and selfless man to all of us who knew him. Be strong, Val and Lauren... Steve is glad to have a 'brother' and dear friend in heaven. Bless you." - Donna and Kate Waltman
