Michael Raimo Obituary

Raimo, Michael
COLONIE - Michael E. Raimo, 79, passed away peacefully at Albany Medical Center on March 26, 2025. Born on January 8, 1946, Michael was the son of the late Anthony and Philomena (DiDomenico) Raimo.
A proud 1963 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, who furthered his education at Hudson Valley Community College, Michael had an enduring commitment to learning and personal growth. His academic pursuits set a strong foundation for a life filled with meaningful contributions and achievements.
Serving his country with honor, Michael defended the United States in the Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he embarked on a notable career with Niagara Mohawk, where he worked for 30 years in the gas department, retiring as a respected Foreman. Michael was not only committed to his work, but also found companionship and support through his involvement with the Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post #1520, where he shared bonds with fellow veterans.
Michael's leisure time was often spent indulging in his passion for outdoor activities and engaging sports. Whether he was enjoying a serene day of fishing, gracefully swinging a golf club, meticulously aiming in a game of pool, skillfully rolling a bowling ball, or eagerly anticipating the results at the Rasino and various horse betting tracks, Michael embraced each of these pastimes with joy and a sense of adventure.
The fond memories of Michael will be carried on by his loving siblings, Joseph (Grace), Anthony (Linda) and James (Kymberly). He was a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews, Jackson, Elliott, Joseph Jr. (Chris), Anthony, David, and Lisa, and a doting great-uncle to Anthony, Michael, Collin, Christian and Bella. His special cousin, Diane (Ralph) LeBarron; and their children, Dianna and Rachel, also survive him, each holding a special place in Michael's heart. Michael is also survived by his companion, Concetta Haggerty.
His life was a journey filled with service, fraternity, and the simple joys that weave together a life well-lived. May the remembrance of his kind and benevolent spirit provide comfort to all who loved him during this time of sorrow.
Funeral services for Michael will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 12:30 p.m., at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Michael's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tenn. 38148-0142. Online condolences, www.glenvillefuneralhome.com
