Michael Skotnicki

Skotnicki, Michael WATERFORD Michael Skotnicki, 87, of Towpath Lane passed away Saturday February 26, 2022, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Rzeszoco, Poland he was the son of the late Andrew and Maria Husak Skotnicki. He came to this country in 1965 and settled in Troy at that time. Michael had been employed at the former Portec Corporation, Rail Division in Troy. He later worked for General Electric Co. in Schenectady from which he retired. Michael was a very spiritual person; he was a devoted family man and a faithful Catholic member of St. Michael's Church in Cohoes. He enjoyed his garden. Michael grew up in Nazi occupied and later Soviet occupied Poland. As a child he experienced a very traumatic and difficult life, during and after World War II. The lessons he learned during those years made him into a determined, resilient and resourceful, yet humble, individual who instilled those values in his children. He is survived by his wife Irene Lamorska Skotnicki; and his children, Andrew Skotnicki (Danielle) of Virginia, Christopher Skotnicki (Holly Fisk) of Mayfield, Barbara Grutkowski of Texas, Margaret Carroll (Ed) of Halfmoon and Henry Skotnicki (Dona Swenk) of Clifton Park. He is the brother of Anthony Skotnicki (Maria) of Wynantskill, Anna Rozycki of Troy and the late Walter Skotnicki. He is the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rt. 32), Waterford and at 9 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, Cohoes. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Waterford.
