Mildred Flavin

Flavin, Mildred ALBANY Mildred (Maychack) Flavin, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at the Teresian House in Albany, with her family by her side. Mildred was born in Atlas, Penn. and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Galic) Maychack. She moved to this area in 1955 and resided in both Cohoes and Watervliet. Mildred was employed by the Norton Company in Watervliet and retired from there in 1983 following 28 years of service. She was a member of the Norton Retirees Club, the Norton Bowling League and the Clifton Knolls Women's Golf League. Her family was always the focus of her life and in her retirement years, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren provided her with much pride and pleasure. Mildred was the widow of the late John Manley of Mt. Carmel, Penn. and William Flavin of Cohoes. She was the companion of the late Carl Ostwald of Troy. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Patricia (Paul) Opar of Latham; devoted sons, John (Nancy) Manley of Savannah, Ga. and Frank (Debbie) Manley of Ballston Lake; loving grandchildren, Jennifer Everleth (Darrin) of Selkirk, Carolyn Opar-Goslow (Rick) of Latham, Susan Valachovic (Edward) of Wynantskill, Paul Manley (Sandy) of Savannah, Christopher Manley (Debbie O'Malley) of Latham, Heidi Ward (Tim) of Ballston Lake and Jason Manley (My'Lisse) of Glenville; cherished great-grandchildren, Zach and Carter Manley, Owen, Megan and Patrick Goslow, Anastazia and Lana Valachovic, Adella Pearl Manley and Sabrina and Georgiana Everleth; dear sister Helen Pachuski of Atlas; dear brother Reverend Paul Maychack of West Rupert, Vt. and several nieces and nephews. Mildred's funeral will begin on Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway in Watervliet, and will then proceed to St. Ambrose Church in Latham, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by the Reverend Dr. Anthony M. Barratt, pastor. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Mildred's family on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
