I am a little shocked that this is my first time writing on here. Where to start? Nate, your legacy will forever live on in this house. Naming both my kids in your honor is the least I could do. You gave the ultimate sacrifice and your soul lives in each and everyone of your Viking Brothers. Whenever I see them together interacting and talking about stories you get brought up and the adrenaline rush they are all feeling pumping through their bodies fade and it becomes a empty heart. You meant so much to so many and that just shows how much of a true hero you were and still are to this day. Your brothers and your beautiful, amazing, and strong mother will not let your legacy fade. While your watch here on earth is complete and you are now guarding the gates of eternity please know that you cross our minds, hearts, and souls often and our kids will know who you were and that you are our hero forever and always rest in paradise brother, we have the watch.

Brownie,
7 years it's unbelievable! So many of us flash back remembering the smells, sights and sounds of that day. So many of us lose sleep at night, have to many drinks and break down into tears wishing there was some way to go back in time. At times we feel guilt and ask why but never receive an answer. You are Loved-Honored-Remembered and Missed by so many who are stuck living with the dead and can't move forward. If we live to be 100 we will still be pouring drinks on the ground to Honor you and thinking about the events of that Easter Sunday.
Love from a Viking Brother who visits you often and thinks of you daily!!!

I just wanted to let you know that I'm thankful for your son's sacrifice for my freedom. I don't know you and didn't know your son, which makes it all the more amazing that he would put his life on the line to protect my liberty.
I am a born again Christian, trusting that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sin and is alive today, and I want you to know that thinking about your son's death made me think about Jesus and the amazing sacrifice that He made for me. I don't know what made Nathan decide to join the military, but the Bible says that it was love that drove Jesus to lay down his life for people who didn't deserve it. The Bible also says that after Jesus died he was placed in the tomb he rose again 3 days later, offering eternal life (a personal relationship with God) to anyone who is willing to confess their sin to the Lord and receive the the free gift of eternal life that Jesus offers.
The Bible says that this life is not the end, that all people will spend eternity with Jesus or without Jesus. God was willing to sacrifice his own's son's life in order to save you; in the same way that I'm sure you honor Kevin, who died protecting your physical temporary lives, how much more ought we to thank Jesus for sacrificing his own life so that we could experience eternal freedom from sin and death forever with Him, the one who loves us more than anyone?
Thank you again, Nathan.

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

I never had the privilege to meet your son, however as I prepped for my tour in Iraq (04-05) I was truly blessed to have a soldier assigned to my unit who was friends with your son, as a matter of fact this young man joined the National Guard because of Nate and I heard many stories during our tour that really made me feel like I had a true connection to the mission. Prior to every mission this soldier would always take five minutes for prayer (which didn't aways make our leadership happy) and I know some of those minutes were for Nate. So in turn I believe that he was keeping an eye on us... No words can express my condolences, but without that soldier in my truck... I don't know whether a beautiful site like this would have been dedicated to me.
God Bless

I went through Basic Training at Fort Benning with Nate back in Oct 2002. We were actually in the same platoon! I came to find out about his passing last year, and I couldn't believe it. I remember in Basic Training he was what we called a "PT stud", after like the 2nd PT test. He was a cocky guy, a leader, and well liked. During Basic Training you never really get to know the guys that long, because that's a period when we are changed from civilian to soldier and combat infantryman, in a matter of 16 weeks. But I will say that Brown had definitely made an impression on me, I never forgot him! And I NEVER will. To the Brown family, thank you for your contribution to our way of life, a society that lives in freedom! and always remember that this man did not die in vain. Nate Brown, We will all miss you, thank you.
Your friend, and Battle Buddy,

Dear Brown Family,
For the time I had spend with Nate, my family enjoyed his presense, so kind with a smile that could make the worst day turn around to the most wonderful. He inspired me to make homemade military insigna fleece blankets for injured troops that are shipped to the 3 major hospitals in the United States. My husband is a United States Army Soldier and Nate and my husband had lots to talk about. My way of keeping Nate's memory alive is through the 653 blankets that I have made and distrubed over the last 3 1/2 years since Nate's death. I know you are proud of Nate and I know how much he loved his family. I keep a photo of Nate in my sewing room as a reminder of why I continue to make there blankets of love. And to visit the hospitals and meet such wonderful men and women of our armed services make it all worth while. Thanks you Nate!!!!

I realize there is NOTHING that could be said to you that could ever ease the loss that your family has endured... I wouldn't even begin to try.
I simply felt the need to convey my deepest, heart felt condolences, to those that lived nearest me...
I SIMPLY HAD TO reach out to those that lived closest to me and let their families know that the sacrifice that their SONS & DAUGHTERS have made ARE NOT, and WILL NOT be forgotten, and were not made in vain!
We gladly add your beloved son to our prayers, along with ALL of our other fallen Sons & Daughters!

This community and our nation are deeply grateful for his sacrifice in the name of freedom and democracy. The loss of Nathan Brown brings the war, and the importance of our mission right home to our community.
We need to remember Nathan, the son, the friend, and the soldier. Glens Falls, New York State, and America thank you Nathan for your dedication and your sacrifice.
And on behalf of a grateful nation we thank Kathy and Rick Brown, his parents for raising such a fine young man who believed in fighting for freedom.

To the family of Nathan Brown:
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am forever grateful for the sacrifice you and Nathan have made to keep my family safe. I stood on the street in front of the armory on a cold February day and watched the soldiers lined up next to the bus, saying their goodbyes and thought how young a lot of them are. As a mother I thought of my children, the same age as some of these soldiers headed to war, and felt a tug at my heart for these soldier's moms. Only a few months later I heard the news. Please know that Nathan is our hero as are all our troops. God bless you and yours and God Bless America.
