To know the powerful memories you hold of my father, to remember and recognize what he gave, keeps that memory eternal of how lives were changed for good. I am forever grateful for your sentiments and would love to hear more of your memories of his beloved decades at the Boys Club and Camp Thacher. He is truly honored. RIP, Dad.

RIP Pete. Being Sin's son, I Knew Pete from a very young age. He scared me when I was little because he was a big muscular guy, and he was loud. But he taught me how to swim. I can still hear him calling "Buddies, one two , and three, now let's hold it" at the waterfront. Camp Thatcher Days were the best, and Pete was a huge part of that.

Mr. Pete Christopher and my farther Morris Morton were good friends and I am grateful for their friendship, through their friendship I learned a great deal about life from Pete while attending the boys club in Albany and Camp Thatcher during summers, Pete thought me the importance of and how to respect and treat others. Thank you paratrooper.

Beaver Street Boys Club was a home away from home. Pete Christopher and Sing seemed forever present. God knows the number (many of them South End kids) who were positively influenced by these inspirational leaders.
One day, Pete hustled 6 or 7 in a station wagon, drove us to Kingston after their group challenged him to a basketball game. Though basketball wasn't Pete's main strength, I can't remember him being so relaxed and cheerful. He picked the right team. John DonVito and myself were joined with 3 who eventually had a giant part in Philip Schuyler High School's undefeated 56/57 season. Irving Brandon had to be among the best locals of all the 1950's HS greats. On that particular day, he was his usual unstoppable self. DonVito got every rebound, Sherman Chambers and Gene Cole were just good - very good.
On the way home, Pete treated us to a meal, some laughs and capped a great experience. Years and years later, I would see Pete. He well remembered the trip too. He would smile and say, Kingston never invited me back. An unforgettable role model.
Thank you, Pete. RIP

To the Family of Pete Christopher,

Mere words can not even begin to describe the affinity and love I will always carry within me for Pete Christopher, and also Fred Schroeder, Al(Sing) Singleman, and Peter Delillo.

These giants of men were the heart and soul of the Albany Boy's Clubs experience.

Through their brilliance in structuring the daily life at the club they laid the foundation for successful growth into adulthood for each of us.

Many of us today look back on that experience as the major influence that allowed us to become who we are today.

Our surrogate Fathers, quietly giving of themselves, shaping our futures.

What is totally incredible is that Pete Christopher, Fred Schroeder and Sing had no fathers.

Our surrogate Fathers had no Fathers!

As adults, the magic that was the club remains deep in our memories.

I will never forget these great men.

GodSpeed Pete.

May you rest in peace.

Love always,

Frank DeNucci

When I was a young teen, Pete Christopher was a Red Cross swimming and "Lifesaving" instructor from whom I learned a great deal about how to be a better swimmer. In my adult years, I taught alongside him and learned how to be a better teacher and more importantly, a better person. He touched so many lives. Rest in peace, Pete. I hope Tommy was waiting for you at the Pearly Gates!
