Peter H. Hilton

Hilton, Peter H. TROY Peter H. Hilton, 84, of Troy, died on Saturday, October 20, 2007 in Latham. He was born in NYC but grew up in Albany and was the son of the late Edward and Gertrude Vrooman Hilton and the beloved husband of the late M. Regina Kenny Hilton. He graduated from Albany High School and Siena College. He had resided in Troy for more than fifty years. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps as a navigator and was discharged with the rank of Lieut (Jg). After nearly 45 years of State service, he retired in 1985 from the State Dept. of Civil Service as chief classification and pay analyst. Early in his career, Peter was active in the Civil Service Employees Association as chapter president, delegate and on the CSEA Board of Directors. For several years he was on the CSEA Personal Committee. Peter was a parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Troy, where he was a trustee, usher, member and past president of the Parish Council, member and past president of the Holy Name Society, a member of the Parish Finance Committee. He participated in the Perpetual Adoration Program from its beginning. While on the Parish Council, he presided over the major restoration of the church building and the construction of Our Lady's Chapel. Peter was the devoted father of Lucille A. (Thomas) Voisin of Lanesboro, Mass.; Elizabeth A. (Marshall) Salvi of Haynerville, N.Y., Laura (Gerald) Laurin of Xenia, Ohio, Janet (James D'Angelo) Hilton of Latham and Peter E. Hilton of Troy; brother of the late Leland E. Hilton; brother-in-law of Martin (Mary Teresa) Kenny of Latham, Frances Willson of Troy and Cecelia O'Connor of Glens Falls, N.Y.; cherished grandfather of Maura (Jody) Boucher, Daniel (Heather) Voisin, Matthew (Sarah) Voisin, Jennifer (Michael) Platania, Derek Salvi, Martin (Lisa) Salvi, Staff Sgt. William (Joyce) Salvi, Mary Salvi, Capt. Jared (Jeanne) Laurin, Heather Laurin, Sgt. Jeshua Laurin, Lance Corporal Jonathon Laurin, Jordan Laurin, and Bridget Hilton. Great-grandfather of Grace Boucher and Margaret Voisin. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9:15 from the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & San-vidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoo-sick Street, Troy, thence to St. Paul the Apostle Church in Troy where at 10:00 a.m., the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. William A. Gorman, pastor. Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul the Apostle Church, 128 12th Street, Troy, NY 12180 in memory of Peter.`
