Peter Miner Obituary

Miner, Peter
Sun City West, Ariz. - Peter Nelson Miner, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, in Ariz., surrounded by his family.
Peter was a proud United States Coast Guard veteran, serving honorably from 1960 to 1966. Known for his hard work, reliability, and dedication, he spent 33 years as a truck driver with Ryder and Verizon, earning membership in the prestigious 2 Million Mile Club. In 1987, he was awarded the Pride Award for his enthusiastic support of district-wide safety programs and played a pivotal role in introducing tractor-trailer operations in Albany. Peter was also proud of his role in setting up communications on the materials management team for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, N.Y., where he was responsible for managing inventory to help transform Lake Placid into a hub of sports communication excellence. He also played a crucial role in supporting communication efforts during the 9/11 tragedy by delivering pay phones to Ground Zero, working tirelessly to ensure that first responders and victims could contact their loved ones during a time of immense need.
Peter was predeceased by his loving wife, Sherryl Miner; and his parents, Nelson and Ella Miner. He leaves behind a legacy of love and pride through his children, Sheryl Kolinoski, Scott (Amna) Miner, Bill (Alex) Newcomb, Kristin Miner, and Ashley (Alexx) Lochner. He was a devoted grandfather to his cherished grandchildren, Rachel Kolinoski, Alec Kolinoski, Billy Newcomb, Lucas Donahue, Logan Newcomb, Gabriella Donahue, Nico Rider, Spencer Newcomb, and Keirlyn Rae Lochner. Peter took immense pride in his family, celebrating their successes as his own.
Known for his infectious laughter, witty sense of humor, and kind spirit, Peter found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved playing ping pong, shooting pool, and tossing horseshoes with his best friend of 67 years, Roy Hoffman. ("I love you, man.") Peter was a longtime member of the American Legion, where he forged lifelong friendships, and he found freedom and joy on the open road during his motorcycle trips.
Peter's warmth, humor, and steadfast love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory lives on through the countless lives he touched, reminding us to find light in laughter and joy in every moment.
