Phyllis Bellcourt Obituary

Bellcourt, Phyllis Allan ALBANY Phyllis Allan Bellcourt, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 surrounded by family. Phyllis was the loving daughter of the late Leo and Margaret Allan. She was a 1953 graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names and attended the College of St Rose. After raising her children in Cobleskill, she returned to to the Capital Region and worked at the Albany County public defenders office and retired after fourteen years of service. Phyllis would want to be remembered as a kind and loyal friend and mother as evidenced in the many people who visited her over the last six weeks to say goodbye. Most important to her were her seven grandchildren who often looked out in the crowd at sporting, family and school events to see her smiling, proud face. Phyllis rarely said no to an invitation and would claim that she "always had her hat on, ready to go." Known for living life to the fullest, she most enjoyed gardening, traveling and going out for a "bite" with family and friends. Phyllis is survived by daughters, Gwenn Bellcourt (Doug Rutnik )of Niskayuna and Lauren (Michael) Nevins of Delmar and sons, Scott (Amy) Bellcourt of Niskayuna and Greg (Lorri) Bellcourt of Guilderland; sister, Margaret Rodgers of Daytona Beach, Fla. and her grandchildren, Brendan Lee Jennifer and Patrick Nevins, Caitlin (William)Allen, Chloe and Daniel Bellcourt and Christopher Bellcourt and great-grandchild, Grace Allen, for whom she fought so hard to stay alive and meet on March 21, 2013. She was also predeceased by her husband, Walter L. Bellcourt and son, Marc A. Bellcourt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 8 at 9:30 a.m, in The Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St, Albany. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany on Sunday, April 7, from 3 to 6 p.m. Interment will be private. Those who wish may make memorial donations to Phyllis' favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis TN 38148, Tribute Acct #33260806. So very sorry to hear of her passing. I remember well how beautiful and graceful she was - and she always had a smile and hello when I saw her.
Losing our parents is too painful for mere words to comfort, but I will be thinking of you all and hoping you find comfort in the good memories she left behind.

Dear Family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I will miss the beautiful gift of Phyllis' friendship; sharing many happy fun filled "bites to eat" with her and the ladies, Sunday Mass with the lively choir, and sharing the magical sunsets in beautiful Siesta Key, but most of all experiencing, in person, Phyllis' spiritual beauty and strength, which we all know will live on forever. My prayers are with you all.
