Raymond Koontz Obituary

Koontz, Raymond Earl Sr. DELANSON Raymond Earl Koontz, Sr., a life-long resident of Delanson, N.Y., passed away on February 8, 2018, at the age of 89. Ray was born on January 22, 1929, son of the late William and Lulu (Bond) Koontz. Ray attended Draper High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War as a Military Police Officer. After his service, Raymond worked the entirety of his 40-year career as a milling machine operator for GE in Schenectady. He worked as a school bus driver for Duanesburg Central School. Ray is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hilda Herrick; his children, Raymond (Marlene) Koontz Jr., Diane (Ward) Humphrey, William (Winnie) Koontz; his grandchildren, Allison Ferraro, Alyssa (Steve) Messina, Nathan (Sarah) Koontz, Timothy Humphrey, and Audrey Humphrey; his step-grandchildren, Christy (Ken) Griffin and Rebecca (Paul) Gicewicz; his great-grandchildren, Schuyler Ferraro and Edward Koontz; his step great-grandchildren Brennan McNeil, Emily Griffin, and Avery Griffin; and his brother Harold (Arlene) Koontz. Ray was a long time member of the Duanesburg Reformed Presbyterian Church, a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, a lifetime member of the VFW, a member of both the GE retirees bowling team and Duanesburg bowling team. Ray will affectionately be remembered by close friends and family, as the neighborly "Snooper-visor" and for his witty ways. A memorial service to celebrate Ray's life will be held in the springtime at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Duanesburg Reformed Presbyterian Church, P.O.
