On behalf of the Torobin family in Montreal and Ottawa sincere condolences. I have such fond memories playing billiards with Richard when I was a little kid staying at Uncle Frank and Aunt Pearl´s in Brooklyn. So sad for all of us to lose another member of the family and so young too. Cousin Jackie.

As an only child I never had a brother. Now I have one less.

I've always been crazy about Richard. My first impression of him as a man who loves and cherishes Susan made me instantly fond of him. Although he was an admired professional and had many interests for 51 years his life revolved around Susan and the family. He would even listen to our high school stories where he knew no one with a genuine interest wanting to know about Susan's life before he knew her. Richard was a genius but never made you feel that you were less intelligent than he was. He was fun to be with and shared his basketball interests with us even going to our kids high school basketball games. I will miss Richard losing a terrific friend and extraordinary human being on this earth.

One of my early memories of Richard was of him capably leading my two sisters and me, his three younger Kaplan cousins, and a "stuffie" dog Ginger on a "safari," through my Bubby Kaplan´s plant-filled upstairs apartment. Our moms were sisters, and we were part of a large family with almost 20 first cousins. We celebrated all the events of life together. Richard was brilliant, yet humble, and so very kind. My daughter Jillian Katz and I send our deepest condolences to Susan, Rebecca, Gabrielle, and family. May a lifetime of good memories of Richard bless us always.

Dr. Breslow taught me a lot when I was an intern rotating through CDPC Crisis, and made the month very welcoming. I am sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family.

Dear Susan, Rebecca and Gabrielle,
I am so saddened to learn of Rich's passing. He was a delight to work with at CDPC, a truly caring physician and a sterling teacher. Burt, Rich and I had many adventures. At Rich's suggestion, we did some interesting research and because of his diligence, managed to get our work published. The discussions we had were always lively. He was a true mensch and his presence will be sorely missed. Sending you all my deepest condolences. Rest easy, Rich. You are one in a million.
With love,
Bonnie Erickson.
