I had the honor to know Bob and spend some time with him when he came to NY or I went to Albany. He was a great man. He was always there to support and help those in need. In part, thanks to many of his interventions, CHDFS was able to secure an opportunity with OCFS. He took the time to know us, show our work, and help us to grow. He was proud of his girls and family. Even though I saw Bob occasionally, we developed a pretty good friendship. Whenever we met, we spoke about food (we were always searching for good restaurants to share), Football, and the four girls that he was so proud of and also "governed his life" (three daughters and his wife). He will be always in our hearts!

Dear Family of Robert:
It is especially tragic when we lose someone so young.
The Bible speaks of the resurection when we will be with all of those we have lost in death, once again.
I hope you can find some peace and comfort at this time.
Sincerely yours,
Nancy R.

Bob and I went to school together as kids, and played hundreds of baseball games together on many different teams. It's a cliche to say someone was friends with everybody, but Bob truly was, and I think everybody felt like his friend. Just a really, really good guy. Bob got a Ford Bronco for his birthday one year (!!) and I remember driving around town with him, with no particular destination, blasting his new Howard Jones tape (it was the 80s). Nice memories. I haven't seen Bob in probably 25 years but I know from what I've heard this week that his life revolved 100% around his family and kids. And I know from our childhood that he got that from his parents. Rest in peace. Thoughts and prayers to Bob's family.

Rest in Peace, Bob - my condolences to your family. I didn't get to work with Bob much but enjoyed the time I did spend with him.. had an interesting ride home from the city with him as he was checking about his kids and their sports.. May you all find joy and comfort as you share your memories of Bob

As kids Bob and I spent our summers riding bikes and playing wiffle ball. As we got older, we played high school and summer baseball together. Bob was always great fun to be with. We had no shortage of nicknames for one another and our teammates.

In recent years Bob and I would see one another occasionally, but because of the friendship we established seeing Bob always felt good and conversation came naturally.

I extend my sincerest condolences to Kristin, Madison, McCayla, Macey, Mr. & Mrs. Burns and the remainder of Bob's family. I am so sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss, I remember Bob from football, taking the late bus home and just seeing him around school and he was always the same - just a giant gentle man among a bunch of high school kids. I can still picture him laughing and calling people by his designed nicknames. I haven't seen Bob in years but hearing his name brought back many good memories. Bob you will be missed rest in peace and prayers to your wife and family

Burns Family,
We are saddened to learn of Bob's passing. I have known Bob from EGGSL since we moved here from RI in 2008. As a fellow coach, I can say Bob was one of the few people I know who coached the right way and for the right reasons. Bob was a dedicated family man who sacrificed his time to help others. I cannot remember a time when I either drove by or was at the fields and Bob was not there working with either his daughters, or others. You will be missed Bob, but not forgotten. God bless your family.

There was no one more giving of his time to his family and to all of us. One of my fondest memories of Bob was of him dancing with his girls at the sweetheart dances. Bob went beyond the softball field, but when he was on it, no one was better. He was a ferocious competitor that had a heart of a champion. Bob, we will always miss you.

Our heart goes out to Bob's family, friends and colleagues. I'm a former resident of East Greenbush who did not get to know Bob until many years after I left the capital area, but I want it known just how devoted and impactful he was in the work he did with OCFS to make the lives of young people better through the Bridges to Health Program. We got to know Bob over these last several years at Graham Windham (in NYC), and we deeply appreciated the commitment and expertise he brought to bear on behalf of children. It was a pleasure and an honor to know Bob, and I only wish I had a chance to know him better.
