I served with Al during his tour of duty in Japan way back in the sixties. His quick wit and snarky attitude kept me in stitches. I was fortunate to have been able to visit with him during several reunions we had in McMinnville at another one of the "greats", Nick Peirano´s Italian Cafe. I feel very honored and blessed to have been a small part of Al´s interesting life.

Al was a good friend for over 60 years. Who could ever forget having Al as a roommate 109 Court Street and the "Y" in Binghamton during our college years. He was even more fun at "Carter Carter Arms" in the heart of Saratoga. The dropped ceilings actually dropped often while you were under them. Watching him rustle up a dinner of a slab of chopped meat and a package of frozen lima beans made me yearn for for the chow line at Fort Jackson. Needless to say when I stayed with him I always insisted that I would go out to eat.
Though all the years Al was always a good friend and a fun guy to be with. A visit to the track in Saratoga will never be the same. I will sorely miss him.
I'm sure a celebration of his life at the track he so loved will be a wonderful event for Paula and us all.

I´m going to miss Allan´s quick wit the most of all of his many good qualities. He usually had me in stitches whenever I was around him. I enjoyed the many years we worked together and the get-togethers we had after we both retired. I´m so glad he found Paula and that they married. He was like a different man after that happened. I will always think of him when I think of the Saratoga racetrack. I think a celebration of his life at the track this summer will be the perfect tribute to him.

Allen was a special, friendly volunteer at the Racing Museum!
Always good for a warm smile, and a pick at the track!
Thanks for being Allen!
