Roger Kelly Obituary
RAVENA - On September 7, 2023, Roger L. Kelly, of Alcove, passed away peacefully with his wife Kathleen at his side.
Born on January 10, 1948, to the late Roger and Esther Kelly, Roger grew up the middle child with four siblings in Erie, Pa. Roger graduated from McDowell High School in 1966 where he excelled at running cross-country and track. Roger attended Slippery Rock University where he earned his B.A. in English in 1970.
Roger made a career working at Samaritan Shelters in Glenmont, rising to the position of assistant director, where he retired in 2011. Always a sports enthusiast, Roger played significant roles, from coach to club president, during the early days of the Ravena Youth Soccer program. Roger was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying fishing, golfing, camping, hiking, cross-country skiing, bird watching, and nature photography.
Roger is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen; two sons, Roger Patrick and Shawn and their wives, Mistine and Jennifer; and three grandchildren, Kaden, Connor, and James. Roger is also survived by his sister, Patricia; his brother, Tom; as well as sisters-in-law Rita, Sue, and Sheila, and so many loved nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brothers, Donovan and Jerry.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena, on Sunday, September 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger's name to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Capital Area.

To Kathy, Patrick and Shawn, Roger was a treasured friend through his work at Samaritan and our work together in the Juvenile Detention Association. Roger was passionate about his work and almost everything he did in life. He was a golfing buddy playing many rounds of golf together. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Rest now my friend, you did good.
