Roland Roberts Obituary

BALLSTON LAKE Roland Roberts, 78, of MacElroy Road, died peacefully Wednesday, April 28, 2004 surrounded by his family. He was born in Schodack Center on January 27, 1926 and was the son of the late Frank and Blanche (Sauvenie) Roberts. He attended high school at Columbia High in East Greenbush. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country during World War II and received the American Theater and Victory Medals. Roland had worked as a tractor trailer driver for the Preston Trucking Company for greater than 20 years and prior he was employed by Associated Transport. Among other wonderful traits, Roland was most remembered for his generosity, compassion toward others and his great sense of humor. He was an avid gardener and received great pleasure doing woodworking. He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys (Palmateer) Roberts whom he married on June 5, 1948. He was a great husband for 55 wonderful years. He was the devoted father of Daniel J. Roberts of Ballston Spa, Frank K. Roberts and Jerry Cook of Burke, Va., Linda and Bob Liberty of Halfmoon, Donna and Stephen Ellrott of Cohoes, Barbara and James Patterson of Ballston Spa, Cindy and Ed Butler of Glenville; brother of Lionel Roberts of East Greenbush, Mary Jump of Elmira, Beatrice Relyea of St. Petersburgh, Fla., Lillian Gathen of Glenville, Yvonne McAllister of Scotia, Claire Hall of Schenectady and the late Camille and George Roberts. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions in memory of Roland may be made to the Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205.

Cousin Tucker and family:

I am so sorry about the loss of Roland. I remember the good times we had swimming in the pool. I remember being the flower girl in Barbara's wedding and the beautiful dress Aunt Bertha made for me. There are alot of good memories I have of everyone.
