DeVito, Rose F.
MECHANICVILLE - Rose F. DeVito, 89, longtime resident of Fifth Ave., died peacefully at Samaritan Hospital, on March 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in her family's Mechanicville home on October 16, 1935, daughter of the late Girolamo and Josephine Galea Fragomeni, she was a 1953 graduate of Mechanicville High School.
Rose worked in the telephone book publishing department at NYNEX, Menands for many years until her retirement in 1991. She was a lifelong communicant of All Saints on the Hudson Church, and a volunteer for the Mechanicville Stillwater Breast Cancer walk. She was a regular soap opera watcher who would record her shows on VHS if she wasn't home. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her home, and doing a variety of projects around the house with her partner in crime, neighbor, Judy. Rose could also be seen driving the streets of Mechanicville on a daily basis, and joining her friends at Bubbles for breakfast. Most of all, she was devoted to her family and grandchildren. She never missed their academic, athletic or dance achievements. Sundays at Nanny's after morning Mass were a must with early and late dinners to follow. She also found joy crocheting items that she shared with family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Anthony "Mope" DeVito; as well as her daughter-in-law, Kim Kelly DeVito; and sister, Lucy Weiss.
Survivors include her faithful children, Anthony DeVito, Dorine Heller, James (Sherry) DeVito; grandchildren, Alyssa and Joshua Heller, and Emily and Joseph DeVito; siblings, Mary Enzien and Anthony Fragomeni; several in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
Rose's family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to Dr. Stephen Sgambati Jr., and her caregivers, for the attention, compassion, and care given to her during her journey.
