Hello Sharon it is Amber again just wanted to see how you are doing. I still very much miss Boomer every day I see a bus or get on my bus I just think of him and it is very sad. I really enjoyed having him as a bus driver I mean yes he did get aggravated sometimes because of some misbehaved kids but he did not get mad alot just sometimes. So what I am saying is that even though he got mad sometimes he was a great person -bus driver

Hi Hon,
Well it has really been a while since I wrote the last time, amazing how time just flies by, life just goes on... for me it is just in slow motion, I still walk around in circles and I have a hard time just keeping my thoughts straight. I miss you sooo much!!! Well little Miss Rylee (your Rizzles) is doing so well in school, she loves it and there is not a day that goes by that she doesn't talk about her poppy, she misses you terribly. Whenever she is outside she looks up at the sky and says "Hi Poppy, love you" and then she blows you a kiss. Soo cute!!
Well finally your grave marker is in, it came out so nice, it really is beautiful, I will be happy when they install it up there on your site. Our yankees did not do so well, they lost to Texas, in the playoffs. Green Bay was doing pretty good last I knew, I have not checked in a while. Melissa is doing well in school and Derek, well Derek is Derek, now he wants to join the Air Force, he wants to make a career out of firefighting with the Air Force, we shall see what happens, this has come to light after he and the girlfriend broke up. He feels this would make you proud!!!
Everyone else is doing okay, the girls are good, Ciera misses you terribly also, she is having a hard time. We all are. I keep hoping this is all a bad dream, but I know that it is not, just sucks!!! Okay hon, well I am gonna go, I won't wait as long next time to write, again, I love ya, I miss ya terribly and remember "Together Forever"

Hi Sharon I would like to meet you too I know this letter has nothing to do with boomer but I dont know how to respond any other way but any ways I would like to meet you too but actually I am in the middle school in 5th grade first year there, but I will try to look for bus #18 and wave. Boomer used to drive me to Shaker Road elementary school.
September 15, 2010
Hi Hon,
Well I haven't written in a couple of weeks, things have been very busy, the track is all done, yeah!!! You know how we felt by the end of those 6 weeks and this year it was 4 days longer. School has started up and I made out pretty well, I have a good bus, 100 gallon tank, nice mid-day, I think it was your old one, and a new 3:50 out of the high school. So my day is much shorter now, no more late run, finally, yeah!! We miss you terribly and so do the kids you used to drive.
Things are okay, the best that can be expected without you, Derek is doing good, working and helping out around here, his girlfriend is very sweet, we are going to that Yankee game that you were supossed to go to for your Birthday, we are all gonna go and still celebrate because it was part of Melissa's Birthday present as well. So that is coming up soon, Yankee/Red Sox game our favorite. Derek said it best, dad will be there with us he said, and your Packers are doing pretty well also. Melissa is doing well in School, she is sick this week, but doing okay. Little Miss Rylee is doing very well in Pre-School, she is getting so big, still left handed, just like you!! Okay hon, well I will write again next week, things are calming down now. I started back to school as well. Okay hon I have to go and do my mid-day run, I love ya and remember "Together Forever"

Hi Amber, thanks it has been terribly difficult for us, we just miss him. If he used to sing for you guys then you know how that went, I will share a story with you. We were riding in the car Roy, myself and daughter Melissa and Melissa and I loved that new song by Lady Antebellum, I need you now, well he started singing that song at the top of his lungs, and of course off key, we were laughing and when he finished he said "I'm going to American Eagle" we were in tears now, laughing so hard because of course he meant, American Idol. I am not sure if you know, I am assuming that you are at the high school? I also drive school bus, my name is Sharon and I drive bus #18 out by the flag pole, stop by and say hello some time, I would love to meet you. Thanks again for your kind words.

My friends also miss him terribly like gabby, anthony, hamia, and lots of others again sorry for your loss.
August 22, 2010
Hi Hon... well here we are another week has gone by 10 weeks now without you and on today the 10th week was the wake for Lt. Dan Buchan, he is now up there with you, I asked him to tell you hello when he got there. The track is winding down, just two weeks left now, Melissa will be off to school and so will I am going back as promised. The wake was really hard today, I didn't think it would bother me as much as it did, I miss you so much. Melissa and I were just talking a little while ago how certain songs would come on the radio and you would turn them up, start singing and either start playing the drums or the keyboard, too funny!! You were a true rocker!! Rylee is doing well in school, she loves it. She is so smart, Cara said on the first day when she picked her up to go home she told Cara that she had to go inside to pick up her stuff and sure enough she had to take her bedding from nap time and put it away in her cubby and she remembered to do that, pretty good for a 3 year old. I forgot to tell you when we were up at the Lake, Rylee was with me and my Mom and Gene were still there, Gene was sitting on the dock and had his feet dangling in the water and as Rylee walked by he splashed her, she spun right around and splashed him back, too funny, we all said we know where she got that from, she learned that from her Poppy, any other kid would have cried, not Rylee... she had a great teacher. Well we have our refresher for school already coming up this week, doesn't seem possible, we will back to that in just a couple of weeks, I got a kindergarten run this year, no more late runs!!! Yeah!!! Ok Hon, well I am going to go have some dinner and curl up in your favorite recliner with the cats, you know how that goes and I am going to relax and read the Sunday paper (our favorite, going through ads) and watch some tv. I miss you terribly, I love and we will be "Forever Together" Love ya!!! Sharon
August 21, 2010
Hi Boomer, Sharon said I could write to you and oddly enough, it doesn't seem strange at all to do so. We only have two weeks left at the track this year and every gate cashier misses you just as much (if not more) than we did when we started. For me personally, I don't have anyone to get me the paper at Wright St, I don't have anyone to come over when there is a day game and give me all the updates, and most of all I don't have anyone saying, "How are you doing-can I get you anything -and meaning it!" Boy, you weren't voted the best Gate Captain for no reason!
The other day I was down at Wright Street when soneone who used to work at the track last year came over and said,"It must be really hard to be here without Boomer-he was such a great guy." Truer words were never spoken.I wish I would have known you better but I feel like I'm getting a clearer picture from Sharon. I see why you two made such a wonderful couple - you had so much to laugh about.
Missing you,
Mary Jane Marmo
PS One odd thing happened the day A-Rod hit his 600th home run- Paula came running down to tell us and even though she didn't have all the details, she did tell us. I've never spoken about baseball to Paula.....
August 16, 2010
Hi Hon...we have made it through another week, 9 weeks now without you, everyone is holding their own, it's funny life goes on but it seems to go in slow motion and I find myself feeling like half of me is lost.. I find myself walking around in circles, I know I would do that anyway but now it is much worse, you are not here to keep me straight. Ughh!! ... Well our Yankees are in first place again and A-rod is hitting again, finally, Yeah!! Well the kids and I are going to a Yankee/Red Sox game this was to be your birthday present and Melissa's birthday present, I know that you would want me to take them, so we are going!!! I already got the tickets and the kids are very excited. We all miss you terribly of course, your little Rylee still talks to you everyday, she starts school tomorrow and she is so excited. She keeps saying my Poppy go with me. So sad... but she just loves you. Derek and Melissa have been having their sad moments too, the parade was this weekend in Latham and Derek was really feeling the lose of your presence at the parade after party. Some days are so hard, but we keep plugging along in slow motion with our hearts broken. Well things at the track are a little different this year, you would be having a field day with the issues up there this year, everyone there really misses you as well. Your fireman friends from the city are up and of course were looking for you and were very upset that you were not there. Okay hon well I am going to go for now, remember we will be "Forever Together" Love ya!!! Sharon
August 4, 2010
Hi Hon...here we are in the 8th week without you now, I just keep going over the past couple of years in my head and trying to figure out what we could have done differently to catch this sooner, I know I can't change the outcome but I can't help but think about it. Well A-Rod finally did it he hit 600 today, finally!!! We lost our first place status, but they have time to get it back, lets hope A-Rod starts hitting again. Everyone is doing okay, we all miss you terribly, Melissa and I seem to be on the same crying schedule, too funny we text each other and are both crying at the same time. Derek is doing good, his girlfriend will be heading off to College soon so he will be going out to visit her on the weekends. Melissa will start school soon and so will I, my promise to you, to finish school, no matter what and I am going to get that RN pin just for you!!! Your little Rylee is getting excited about going to school, but she wants poppy to take her there, she is so cute!! She still wants to go and get you!! We all go through the motions of everyday and just take one day at a time that is all we can do. Sundays are sad days for all of us, Cheri, Cara and even the kids seem to be a little off on Sundays. Okay hon well, we love you always, and we will be together again someday. I must go the cats are looking for their treats!! You know how that goes, they have no patience!! Wonder where that comes from!! lol "Forever Together" Love you!! Sharon
July 30, 2010
Hi Hon... well it has been 7 weeks now without you, people tell me, "oh it will get easier", I don't know when, because I just miss you so much, I still cry everyday, I know "suck it up" right!!! Well things at the track are the same, I walked down to your gate the other day and never imagined how hard that would be, didn't hit me until I got there, WOW!!! Everyone there is feeling the loss of your presence as well, I can't help but remember the "Pickles" cartoon that you cut out of the paper for me, about writing your own obituary and it said "a sweet and wonderful man died today and nobody knows how the world will go on without him", you have no idea how right you were. I still have it on the refrigerator and I read those Pickles cartoons every night and I laugh and think of you!!! Everyone is doing well, Rylee starts Pre-School in a few days, she is so excited about going to school. She is so smart, she has her picture of you right next to her bed and says "Hi Poppy" everyday, she misses you too. Derek is good, working hard and spending time with the girlfriend, Melissa is working at the track, I see her everyday for lunch and she is getting ready for College, all grown up. The cats are getting a little better, amazing it affects them also. Our Yankees are doing well, they are in First place still, A-rod is still trying to get 600, he is stuck at 599. Okay hon, well I love ya, "Forever Together" Sharon
July 19, 2010
Hi Hon.... well here we are it has now been 6 weeks without you, I miss you so much, I still cry everyday, but now I am able to remember some of the crazy things we did. We had Melissa's graduation party today up at her house and it was fun, Cara and Rylee (your little Rizzles) went also and Derek and his girlfriend, yes she is officially his girlfriend now, she is very sweet, you would approve. Before we went up to the party we stopped at the cemetery and hung up a birdhouse in the tree right next to you. Now the birds can find you too. Rylee has gotten a little better as you probably know she says hi to you every day, she just loves her "Poppy" when we went up to Schroon lake this past week as we were walking down the dock to get on the boat she started yelling, Hi Poppy and pointing out in the water.....go figure!!!! Well... I start the track on Friday, that will be very difficult for me all of the "firsts" without you are sooo hard. We were so fortunate that we had a relationship that we always wanted to be together and we were, but that is very difficult for me now. Our Yankees won again tonight and are in first place, Yeah Go Yankees!!!! Okay hon, well I love ya, "Forever Together" Sharon

Hi hon, well here we are 1 month later, I cannot believe it has been 4 weeks, Rylee still asks where her Poppy is every day, we told her you are an Angel now and you are up in the sky with your mommy and daddy, so now she has Cara open the window so she can look up at the sky and yell "Hi Poppy", she is just so cute. The kids are good Derek is stepping up to the plate and taking care of the things he needs to and Melissa is keeping busy, she is all graduated now, you would have been so proud of her. We were all together for the 4th at Cheri and Chucks it was very nice. I miss you so much, my heart is broken and I still cry everyday,( I know you would be calling me a wimp). Watch over Rylee, I know you will stay close, we will all be together again some day, I know you are with me in my heart. We had something very special. Our Yanks are in 1st place, winning tonight 6 to 1 A-Rod with an A-Bomb. Talk to ya later, Love ya always. Sharon

Gerry and Joe,
I was very sorry to hear about your brother, Boomer. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this very difficult time.
I just met Boomer several months ago. I was at the IBS Hall with my husband and parents on a Friday evening. Boomer came over to our table to say hello to my Mother and Father. My Mother introduced Boomer to me and we talked about my sister, Michele, who worked with Boomer at the South Colonie Bus Garage and I told him that I knew his older brothers, Gerry and Joe. I instantly knew what a great sense of humor he had!
May wonderful memories of Boomer give you comfort. My heart goes out to you.

I'm writing this for my 11 yr old son Ryan who just loved Boomer. He was his bus driver for a few years and just like everyone else has mentioned, he was always waiting with a big smile and an even bigger HELLO RYAN which made his day. We didn't realize how much Boomer impacted our son's life. He will be sorely missed by all, especially Ryan. So sorry for your loss.

To my sister Sharon,
Words are hard to find to express how sorry we are. My heart aches for you to have to go thru such a loss. Knowing the special relationship you had with Boomer and to have all your future hopes, dreams, and plans cut so short is such a tragedy. Take comfort in knowing he is no longer sick and at peace. Hold onto the memories as they will keep him alive in your heart forever, and remember, "Help is on the Way Mrs. Fletcher!" Rest in Peace Boomer, thank you for having brought such happiness and joy to not only my sister, my family but everyone who had the honor and priviledge of knowing you.

I will always remember Boomer standing outside of his bus ready and waiting to greet each and every child by name. He always had a big smile on his face. He took the time everyday to say hello to each child, give a high five, and ask how their day was. It is people like him that truly make a difference in the life of child by simply taking the time. His dedication will forever be appreciated.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Sharon, Derek, and Melissa,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire Anson family. Boomer was a great man, friend, and neighbor. I will miss driving home, seeing Boomer watering the lawn and raising the hose up and spraying it at my car as I drove by with that "Boomer-grin" on his face. We are honored to have known him, and we will miss him.

Dear Derek,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I know how much you loved him. I feel disappointed that I never got to meet him. He sounds like a warm, caring, funloving individual. It's clear he was a great success in life because he accomplished the most important thing anyone can do. He helped his son to become one of the finest young men anyone could ever know. I hope you dedicate yourself to living a life that would continue to make him proud. Much love, Mrs. P.

I was Roy's (Boomer's) fourth grade teacher. He was one of my first students and I have always remembered him. The sense of humor that you all remember about him started when he was very young and that's what made him a memorable student. I am so sorry to hear that his life was cut short and I know his family and friends will miss him immensely. I'm sure that you all have wonderful memories to help you through these difficult times. My sympathies are with you all.
Sincerely,

Sharon, Derek, Melissa and Family~
We are deeply saddened by the loss of your partner and father. He has left a void that no one can fill. He watched out for my babies since they were in kindergarten, it meant the world to me knowing he was in charge of them traveling safely to and from school. He always made the bus ride pleasant - Jaret's favorite part of the day was seeing Mr. Boomer.
Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know that are happy.
Rest in peace, Boomer...you will be missed.
Love~

Sharon, Mike, Joe, Gerald, George, Derek and Melissa,
Marty and I can not express our deepest sadness for the loss of Boomer He will be missed by so many. I have so many memories of him growing up as a child! I feel so blessed that Marty and I were able to share our wedding day with him, and that he was able to meet our daughter Isabella at her baptism. I have a geat memory of him holding her as she gazed up at him. He was so special. I hope that you can find great comfort knowing that he is in heaven most likely yelling with Aunt Fran at all the ball players playing games, and enjoying missed time with Uncle Jerry. I just know that Donna was probably at heavens gates waiting for him! And I know that he will make her laugh!
Please let Marty and I know if we can do anything.
Love Always,
Elena, Marty, Alex and Isabella Furciniti
