Ruth Beer Obituary

Beer, Ruth M.D.
MENANDS - Ruth Beer, M.D,, M.B.A., age 73, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Mt Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach, Fla. Born in Haifa, Israel on August 12, 1949, she is the daughter of Shmuel and Luba Winterfeld.
Ruth was a graduate of the Reali High School in Haifa, Israel, after which she served three years in the Israeli military in communications. She graduated from Brussels University School of Medicine in Belgium in 1977 and completed her residency in radiology in Mt. Sinai Hospital in N.Y.C. She moved to the Capital District area in 1981 where she practiced radiology and created the first mammography unit of the Capital District and was co-founder of Community Care Radiology. She retired in 2017 following a lung transplant due to pulmonary fibrosis. She remained active and lived in the Capital District area alongside her husband, also a physician, until recently.
Ruth was always cheerful and pragmatic. She was a happy person, extroverted, loved to meet new people and connect with them. Her friends and family always appreciated her outspoken honesty and felt the strength of her love for them.
Ruth is survived by her children, Omri and Jonathan; her daughters-in-law, Manami and Jackie; her beloved grandchildren, Noam and Mayu; her sister Michal (Ebril), and her husband of 51 years, Yoram.
Funeral services will be held at Congregation Beth Emeth in Albany on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 12 p.m. All who knew her are welcome to attend.

Hi I am sorry for your loss. She seems to be a wonderful person. I believe Ruth was related to the Winterfeld family. My grandfather was Samuel Winterfeld and my mother was Edith Winterfeld. Would love to know if in someway we are related. We were brought up in the Bronx and Queens NY and currently live in Charlotte NC.I know my grandfather had relatives in Israel. We know nothing of his Winterfeld family in Israel and would love to find out about them. My email address is [email protected] and any info you can give would greatly be appreciated. Shelley Hunter

My sincere condolences - I am the granddaughter of Ruth’s father’s brother Sam , from the Bronx, NY. I used to accompany my grandfather when he went to visit his brother Shmuel at Lebanon Hospital. I have recently been in touch with Hattie Winterfeld, granddaughter of William Winterfeld , Shmuel’s brother. She has given me information as I begin my search for my family , at the wonderful age of 78! I am so sorry for your loss, Meredith

What a wonderful woman. She diagnosed my breast cancer. After surgery & treatment returned to work at Block Ctr next to her office for ACS. I watched as she helped many others start their journey with love, kindness and tenderness. I learned so much from her. Rest Dr Ruth
