Sabina Prusan Obituary

Prusan, Sabina Robin
TROY - Sabina Robin Prusan passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, after a courageous battle fighting breast cancer, on August 12, 2022. She was living at Shaker Pointe Retirement Center in Albany N.Y., where she had a wonderful group of friends that were deeply saddened by the sudden loss. Sabina was a warm and loving woman whose kindness and zest for life impacted all that knew her. To know her was to love her!
Sabina was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph, who died on October 2, 2019. They were married for five decades and had two children, Eric (Rosemary), and Nina (Gregory). Sabina had three granddaughters, Alexandra, Jillian, and Ella. She had four grandsons, Joseph, David, Matthew, and Michael. Sabina loved her family dearly, and cherished times with the grandchildren.
Sabina was born in Philadelphia, Pa., to Dr. Oscar and Dorothy Robin. Sabina's brother, Mark, predeceased her. Her sister, Bara, continued to be Sabina's best friend until the end. As a child, Sabina moved frequently, as her father was a dentist in the Army. She returned to Philadelphia in her 20s, where she met and married the love of her life, Joseph L. Prusan. Sabina attended Hood college undergrad, and received her Masters in education at Adelphi University, in Garden City, N.Y., when she and Joe settled in 1972. They shared their house In Garden City for 49 years, until Sabina moved to Albany to be with her daughter, Nina and family. Sabina was a fifth grade teacher in the North Merrick school district for 25 years before she retired. She was well loved and respected by staff and children alike. For 30 years, Sabina fought breast cancer, which unfortunately kept returning. She never complained, and was always cheerful and full of life and love. She is, and always will always be greatly loved and missed by her family.
