Walsh, Stephen E. RALEIGH, N.C. Stephen E. Walsh, 62 of Raleigh, N.C. and formerly of Colonie, passed away peacefully at home on February 3, 2021. Steve was the oldest son of Ann and the late John F. Walsh Jr. of Colonie. Steve is survived by his loving sisters and brothers: Ann (Martin) Loftus of Annapolis, Md., Barbara (Joseph) Eron of Chapel Hill, N.C., Cynthia Walsh Swint and Sheila Walsh Vadney, both of Niskayuna, Barry (Sheila) of Anaheim, Calif., and Daniel (Linda) of Edmonds, Wash. He is also survived by his 19 nieces and nephews, including his goddaughters, Jessica Izzo and Ariana Jacobsen; and 19 great-nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by his brothers, Timothy and Jay; and his niece, Jasmine Swint. Steve was a graduate of Colonie Central High School (1976), H.V.C.C. and S.C.C.C. Culinary School. Steve proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1979 to 1983, stationed in San Diego on the Coral Sea aircraft carrier. Steve was his own man and lived his life to the fullest! He enjoyed living in Islamorada in the Florida Keys for many years, some of them spent residing on his sailboat! Steve was well-known for his culinary skills up and down the East Coast and loved tantalizing his customers taste buds with new creations. He was an avid reader, had an amazing ability to recall all he learned during his lifetime, and he gladly shared his vast knowledge. Steve's quick wit kept family and friends in stitches, oftentimes catching Barbara unaware while drinking her milk! Although a man of modest means, he had a generous heart and willingly shared his time and talents. When you see others in need, please do as Steve would have done and ask them, "How can I help?" Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial Mass and celebration of Stephen's life will be held at a later date to be announced.
