Hitt, Thomas C.
NEW SCOTLAND - Thomas C. Hitt, 92, beloved husband of Patricia E. Hitt, for 68 years, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in the comfort of his home, in New Scotland, N.Y. Born on January 2, 1932, in Richmond, N.Y., to Harold E. and Marion Jeanette (Ruland) Hitt, who later moved to Albany where he grew up. After attending Vincentian Institute, in Albany, he served as Private First Class in the U.S. Army, in 1951 and 1952. Then later worked for the NYS Office of General Services as an Assistant Architect until retirement. Tom was an avid golfer, hunter, and enjoyed reading and photography.
Tom was the devoted father of Thomas M. Hitt, Daniel P. Hitt (Linda Fogel), Joseph B. Hitt, William C. Hitt (Cheryl Smith), and Kathleen P. Hitt.
Tom was the younger brother of the late Marian E. (Hitt) Happel, the late Robert Hitt, and Patricia (Hitt) Bartow; cherished grandfather of Samantha, Heather, Michael, Damon, and Caleb; and great-grandfather of Benjamin, Graham, Grant, and Ophelia.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, in Schuylerville, N.Y.
