Tim Pratt Obituary

Pratt, Tim SOUTH GLENS FALLS New York State Trooper Timothy P. Pratt, age 55, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family and police brethren shortly following the tragic automobile incident that took place early that morning. Born January 9, 1961, in Glens Falls, Trooper Pratt was the son of the late Ruth M. (Wilsie) and Edward F. Pratt who spent their entire lives here in our South Glens Falls community. Tim graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1979. Shortly following his graduation his service to our country began as he joined the United States Air Force at the age of 18. He was honorably discharged in 1986 and went on to continue his life long career as a trooper with the New York State Police beginning on March 30, 1987. The duration of Tim's career was spent patrolling in Troop G, based out of the Wilton Barracks. He was assigned to the Traffic Incident Management (T.I.M.) detail. He was also a proud member of the elite State Police Motorcycle Unit where he recently led the 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride from Albany to New York City. Trooper Pratt was a member of the American Legion Post 574 and participated in an uncountable number of volunteer events and charities. His most cherished volunteer work was in his annual service to the students of South Glens Falls Marathon Dance as an alumni and member of the very first dance. Tim's service to his country and community stands as a representation for his truest dedication, which was his service to his family. To many, Tim was known as "the go to guy." He was the man you called first when you were in a pinch or needed a helping hand. Simply because, everyone knew, no matter what, he would be there. To his family, that call rarely needed to be made, as he was already a presence before anyone had a chance to dial his number. His love and affection for his children, grandchildren, and beloved fiancee have absolutely no measure. While Tim was off duty he spent as much time as possible "riding in the wind" with the love of his life wrapped around him, or seated next to him depending on which 'Toy' the weather called for. His passion for Harley Davidsons and Shelby Mustangs will remain in our hearts forever as we remember and honor this legendary man. In addition to his parents, Tim was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Hall; and his brother-in-law, David LaFountain. Left to cherish his memory are his children, James, Sarah and Shane Pratt; his grandchildren, "baby girls" Taegan Eichhorn and Charlee Pratt; his fiancee and love of his life, Sue Clarke and her children, Taylor and Hannah; his siblings, Michael Pratt, Kathleen Bourdeau and husband Joseph, Maureen Leggett and husband, Michael, Laurie LaFountain, Mary Belair and husband, Joe; brother-in-law, Paul Flood and wife, Linda; the entire Godon family; many precious nieces and nephews; as well as many, many friends. Friends may call on the family Sunday, October 30, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the South Glens Falls High School gymnasium, 42 Merritt Road South, South Glens Falls. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 31, at 11 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, 80 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls, with the Reverend Guy A. Childs, officiating. Rite of committal will take place for family, close friends, and co-workers at 2 p.m. in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road., Schuylerville. The family suggests donations in Tim's name may be made to the South Glens Falls Marathon Dance, c/o South Glens Falls School, 42 Merritt Road South, South Glens Falls, NY 12803, or to Signal 30 Fund, New York State Troopers P.B.A., 120 State St., Albany, NY 12207. The Signal 30 benefit fund was created by the New York State Troopers P.B.A. It is a federally recognized charity created to assist families of police officers in their time of greatest need. Administrative costs are covered by the P.B.A. so 100% of all donations go directly toward helping these families. Donations are tax deductible. Arrangement are in the care of M.B. Our family was saddened to hear of the loss of your dear loved one. We never met Tim, but we did meet his Father, our Uncle Ed, many years ago. From the outpouring of condolences from his immediate community and communities outside of his, it shows he was truly respected, loved and cared for and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. With many prayers for your healing, we are thinking of his family and friends during this difficult time. May the fond memories he made with all of you console your grief.
Most sincerely, the children of James Irving Pratt (Edward Fordyce Pratt's oldest half brother) Donna, Sharon, Janice, Debbie and James Jr.

We met Tim 10/7 this year when he escorted us to the National Cemetery in Schuylerville for my husband's interrment. He was an US Army Vet and retired NYSP t/Sgt. Tim was the best example of a NYSP Trooper. We were truly honored to have met him. He talked about his family and how much he loved all of you. God bless you Tim. I believe the first words he heard when he opened his eyes in heaven were, "Well done my good and faithful servant. Come see the place I have prepared for you."
