Tracy Pentak Obituary

Pentak, Tracy L.
ALTAMONT - Tracy Pentak, 59, of Altamont, lost her battle with cancer on Saturday, August 9, 2025. Tracy was a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter and a friend. She was the bright light in the lives of so many. She loved her family and friends fiercely and had an unwavering love and devotion for her husband Bill of 34 years, and her son Tyler.
Tracy enjoyed traveling with her family with her grand finale to Italy in February. Thanks to her son Tyler, she found joy in Legos. Always ready for the next Marvel movie, new craft project or idea, any computer challenge, and especially cuddling with the dog. She was always the first to offer a helping hand, and brought love and laughter wherever she went.
Tracy, a graduate of Guilderland High School and Albany Business College, retired from New York State service after more than 36 years, where she enjoyed beta testing her new Halloween recipes on those she worked with.
Tracy is survived by her devoted husband, Bill; and their son, Tyler; her mother, Theresa Harper; was predeceased by her father, Victor Harper; survived by brothers, Thomas (Kimberly) and Victor; and sisters, Lin and Lorie; sisters-in-law Nancy, Karen (Thomas), Sandra (Steven); and many nieces and nephews.

Yesterday

Im at loss and so very sad . My deepest condolences to Pentak and Harper family. I met Tracy freshman year of High School and we graduated together . She played a big part of my life in high school and for that I will always treasure. She taught me the words to our favorite songs and I taught her sign language . I spend many weekends at her home with Mr. and Mrs . Harper her parents treated me like family. Tracy and I were close I had the honor of being in Bill and Tracy wedding . As life happens we lost touch for a bit then ironically we both started working for NYS dept of tax and finance from there we would have lunch together from time to time . Tracy your personality was bigger than life , your laugh was unique that you couldn´t help but bust out laughing right along with you. Thank you for the wonderful memories . Rest easy dear old friend .

Yesterday

Tracy had/has this gift of knowing when one is in need. Back in those Guilderland High school days, she used that awesome laugh, smile and eye communication to tell you all would be ok! I remember like yesterday when we were with her brother and family during a blizzard snowstorm playing charades to pass the time till I could drive home. Tracy and family knew about the loss of my father and was sure to fill my forward days with laughter and kindness. I will and have never forgotten that! My dear Tracy thank you and you are missed. Bill and Son, condolences... but know this... knowing Tracy, she has already made it clear with God to give her an open window to watch and be with you all!

Dear Bill,
My deepest condolences on the loss of Tracy. It didn't seem there were services from the obit otherwise I would make every attempt to pay my respects. Though we've only seen each other a couple of times in 40 years, I still think of you as a dear old friend. I'll pray for you and your family for this heavy loss

Bill and Tyler ,

So sorry to hear about your loss. Tracy was always a kind and loving person and always willing to help others. We spent many hours in class together through the years at Guilderland High. I can still remember her having my name and number as a GCHS cheerleader, whether it was on the Football field or Basketball court. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

So sorry for your loss. Tracy was one of a kind. I worked with her years ago and remember many laughs on our walks at lunchtime. I looked up to her strength, confidence and great sense of humor. She adored her family and fur babies too, that´s for sure! Fly with the angels, my friend. You will be missed.
