Wilhelmina Seim Obituary

Seim, Wilhelmina
EAST GREENBUSH - Wilhelmina Ellen Seim, 95, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany on July 31, 1929, Wilma was the beloved daughter of the late Christopher Shuhart and the late Margaret (Goldhorn) Shuhart. She grew up in Rensselaer and graduated from Van Rensselaer High School. Wilma began her career as a payroll supervisor for B.T. Babbitt Company in Albany before dedicating herself to being a full-time homemaker. Later in life, she returned to work as an accounts payable clerk at Pratt & Son's, where she worked part-time for many years.
Wilma was a devoted wife and mother, instilling in her children countless life lessons and values, including the ones she held closest: faith and family. She opened her home and her heart, lending a listening ear, providing support and encouragement, and pitching in to help in any way she could. Wilma had the rare ability to bring out the good in people and she made each one feel special, forming unique bonds with so many.
Wilma and Arnold enjoyed traveling, with memorable trips to Europe and Hawaii. However, their annual visits to the sunny shores of Hutchison Island, Fla., were their greatest pleasure. Spending time with family, soaking up the warmth, listening to the crash of the waves, or napping in the sun was something they looked forward to every year. It truly was a magical time for all who were lucky enough to spend time with them there.
A lifelong sports fan, she enjoyed rooting for the Yankees and her beloved UCONN Women's basketball team (Go Huskies!). In her leisure time, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word games on her iPad, knitting and crocheting. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to her aides, Kelci Leigh and Brooke, for their companionship and loving care.
Survivors include her son, John M. Seim (Gabriela); daughter, Lori E. Seim; sister, Dorothy (Warren) Pratt; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Wilma was predeceased by her brother, Robert Shuhart; and sister-in-law, Annabelle Shuhart.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 10:00 a.m., at Unity Lutheran Church, 1500 Western Ave., Albany, N.Y. Contributions in Wilhelmina's memory can be made to the American Heart Association, 4 Atrium Dr. #100, Albany, N.Y. 12205 or Epilepsy Foundation of North Eastern New York, 3 Washington Sq., Albany, N.Y. 12205.
