To all the members of the Pafford family and Glenn's "family" at Publix on Atlantic,

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to you all at this time. I will always remember Mr. Pafford at the front of the store overseeing everything, with his sleeves rolled up ready to help whenever needed. His warm welcome and engaging smile were a great gift to both the employees and customers at Publix. Most of all, he made me feel safe. I almost always shop in the evenings and he made sure I got to my car safely, either escorting me himself or having another young man from the store do so. He was a fine man, a gentleman in the true sense of the word. His kindness and his presence will be greatly missed.

We were shoppers at Mr. Paffords Publix on Atlantic Blvd. Never did we go in to his store without him stopping to talk to us. He was very kind and helpful.

I worked with Mr. Pafford in the early 90's at the Atlantic Beach Publix. I hadn't seen him in several years and recently ran into him at the Atlantic Blvd Store. I am so happy that I was able to see him. He was always one of my favorite managers. I will always remember Mr. Pafford as being "one of us". He wasn't above kicking back and having a beer with us after work. He will truly be missed.

After having Mr. Pafford as my manager for about five years, I know that his character has impacted my life, my work. He always smiled when he saw me filling the Coke display once the store closed. At one time, not everyone did that. I smiled, too. Funny, we never talked much, but in a sense, he taught me something enlightening. Giving is receiving. Through United Way, he realized what a great help giving does. Even though I was usually too busy working to attend our United Way meetings at work, he always took the time to come to me, personally. I gave my contribution every time. Thank you Mr. Pafford.

Glenn was such a fine young man growing up in our neighborhood and a good example for my two children. This continued as he grew up into adulthood as he continued to be an example for his employees and friends. May God be with the Pafford family at this time. We will remember you in our prayers.

Of all the managers at his store,Glenn stood out.He didn't hide in the back office, rather he pitched in where help was needed and he made the older crowd at the coffee table feel most welcome and always had a kind word or anecdote. He will be missed and the store won't be the same without him.His family can take comfort in knowing where he is and he has gone ahead to prepare a place for them.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all the staff and management of Publix where Glenn Pafford "did it all". He always spoke to me, and his friendly manner and helpfulness made it fun to shop at his store. What a senseless act this was. I am truly saddened at this tragedy, and send my thoughts and prayers to the Pafford family.

When a life is taken for no reason we often ask ourselves " Why ?

" Only God can comfort us when things like this happen. Glen was a role model and happy spirit. I am only sorry that I never got the chance to tell him how much I looked up to him when I was a young man. He was a great man and I only ask that God comfort his family and my prayers are with you.
