James John "J.J." Mercer III

MERCER James John Mercer, III J.J. , passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 27, 2014 at the age of 36. Born in Upper Montclair, NJ, he had been a resident of Jacksonville, FL for many years. J.J. was an avid basketball player and was voted MVP at Schuylerville High School in 1995 and 1996. Professionally, J.J. was a commercial truck driver receiving awards from various trucking companies. J.J. was devoted to his family and helping the less fortunate. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Mercer, grandfather, Malcolm George Bean and sister, Patricia Mae Piperato. J.J. is survived by his mother and step-father, Pamela & Ronald Hanson; brother, Patrick Mercer (Erin); nephew and godson, Dean Mercer; sisters, Jennifer & Debrah Anne Loucks; stepbrothers, Michael & Ronald Hanson; grandmother, Anna Mae Bean; aunt and uncle, Janice & Dave Cook; and cousin, Andre Forfa (Sandra) and other relatives and friends. A service to celebrate the life of J.J. Mercer will be held Wednesday, July 2nd at 6:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church at 12200 McCormick Road, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
