Thinking of you this morning and missing our conversations. Did my retirement counseling appointment this week at work. Had wanted to do that with you in July, but God thought otherwise. I keep thinking of Jeremiah 29:11 and reflecting on the plans I had versus the ones God had and has for you and me. I really miss you.

Dear Ann, Clyde, Jody, Joanne and Emily -
My heart broke when I heard about Pastor Joe. He was my very favorite pastor and as long as I live, Joe will be my pastor. I pulled out the Bible I used when he was at Stetson Baptist. It is so marked with quotes and sermon notes that some passages are almost illegible.
I had planned to come to Friday's services but didn't feel I should be far away from Mom. We ended up putting her in the Winter Park Hospital that Saturday for a bulging disk and blood clot in her leg.
I truly wanted to be there to let you know you and Dr. Joe and your family are precious to me - always have been and always will be.
I will continue to keep you in my prayers. Just think, Pastor Joe and Jerry Falwell praising God together - It makes me happy to think that he is now in the presence of the God he loved so much and the One he introduced to so many folks.
God bless all of you.

The two most amazing people I know are my grandparents, Nanma and Nandy. Nandy got to go meet Jesus on Saturday evening and I've been flooded with memories ever since about how amazing this man is.
When I was little, Nandy was the man who saw my mom in need and invited us to come live with him and Nanma until Mommy could get back on her feet. He was the man who picked me up from preschool and took me to get pizza at Two Guys on Friday afternoons. He was the man who always asked me if I wanted rasberries with everything I ate and who wiggled his ears at the dinner table to make me laugh.
When I was six, Nandy was the man who asked me if I wanted to know Jesus as my Savior. The man who led me to the Lord and who baptized me.
When I got older, through high school and college, Nandy has been the man who pushed me to do my best. The man that I knew prayed for me everyday. The man who encouraged me to pursue my dreams and encouraged me to walk daily with Jesus and to lead a life of purity that would bring honor to the Lord. He was the man who before I even finished my Bachelor's degree, encouraged me to never stop learning, to get my Master's degree and go on to be the best person I could be. He was the one I could count on to ask me how much money I had saved for retirement and who jokingly asked when I was going to find a man to save me from being an "old maid school teacher".
I will never forget the conversation I had with Nandy at Christmas. I was explaining to him how I believed that God had placed a calling for ministry on my life and that I wasn't sure what that was going to look like. Nandy told me to trust God and to continue pursuing His will for my life. He challenged me to be open to whatever God leads me to do, whether it be seminary or missions somewhere else in the world. He challeged me to, while I'm young, allow myself to be free to do God's work anywhere.
I know that I got my love of sliced tomatoes, pizza, and chinese food from Nandy but he's given me so much more. He's challeged me to be the best person that I can be. He's challenged me to love the Lord with my heart, soul, and mind, and He's given me an example to follow on how to do that. I am so grateful that I got to call Dr. Joe H. Courson, my Nandy.

Dear Ann,
Harriet and I express our deepest sympathy and prayers for you and your family. As you know, you both were precious friends of many years. Although we most often only had opportunity for time together at various Baptist gatheringhs, we kept you in our minds and prayers. I first met Joe many years ago, then became better acquainted when you were serving in Fort Myers. After that, we had many opportunities for mutual service through the seminary, pastoral gatherings, DOM work, SBC and state convention responsibilities. Our work in Miami and Joe's in Ft. Lauderdale was the nearest, most continuous, contiguous and enjoyable of all.
God bless you and family. It won't likely be too long before we can all rejoice together again around the throne.

Dear Ann and family,
We were very sad to hear of Joe's passing, but to be with Jesus is the greatest blessing and we must not forget that. We were in Jax for our daughter-in-law's graduation from UNF and heard the news right before we left to go home. We now live in Tavares, Fl and are at First Baptist, but will always remember Brother Joe leading us to Yulee and the many years spent there and getting to see you each time we visited Terry Parker.
We pray God's all-sufficient grace and mercy on you at this time and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Love, in Jesus
