Margaret Jean GLIDDEN

1928 - 2016

GLIDDEN Margaret Jean Glidden (Margot), 87, passed away April 7, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born June 26, 1928 in Duluth, Minnesota to George T. And Marian A. Rich. She received her Bachelors Degree in British Literature, Philosophy and Speech from the University of Minnesota. She went on to receive her Master's Degree in Christian Education and her Doctor of Letters. Margot was a valued teacher and leader at several area schools including San Jose Episcopal (formerly Grace Chapel), University Christian School, where she was Principal, Bartram School for Girls, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and Seacoast Christian Academy. She also went to Moscow with a group called Go to the Nations and taught at an English school for missionary children. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Glidden Edwards (Mike); son, Steve Glidden (Cynthia); grandchildren James Glidden (Bree), Joel Edwards, Chad Glidden (Amanda), and Hannah Edwards. She was delighted to have three great grandchildren, Maddy Glidden, Aiden Michael Glidden and looked forward to meeting Theodore Ralph, who is due to join our family soon. She was pre deceased by her husband of 57 years, Ralph. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 1pm at Hardage-Giddens, Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL., with Dr. William Yeldell officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Heartland Hospice.
