Obituary published on Legacy.com by Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors on Feb. 26, 2026.
Marilyn Beaton, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love.
Born to Frank Loyd Titus and Freida Burlingame Titus, Marilyn lived a life centered on faith, family, and service to others. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to shaping young lives, serving as a preschool and first grade teacher for ten years at University Christian School and Victory Christian Academy. Her gentle spirit and patient heart made a lasting impact on the many children in her care.
Alongside her beloved husband, Ernest, Marilyn co-owned and operated Beaton's Book and Vitamin Shop in Callahan, Florida, for 25 years. Together they built not only a business, but a welcoming place that reflected their values and love for their community.
Marilyn was faithful to God as a member of Springhill Baptist Church, where her steady faith was evident in the way she lived each day. Of all her roles in life, her favorite was being "Grandma." She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loving them deeply and wholeheartedly. Her family was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.
She found special joy in the graceful beauty of cardinals, often seeing them as gentle reminders of love and comfort. May their bright red wings serve as a lasting symbol of her presence and the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Donald Titus, daughter-n-law Judy Beaton, granddaughter Micayla Lyn Jacobsen and great granddaughter Olivia Mae Jacobsen.
She is survived by her son Ernest "Buster" Beaton III (Kim), her daughter, Kathryn Jacobsen, son-in-law Michael Jacobsen Sr, five grandsons, Ernest "Chip" Beaton IV (Theresa), Matthew Beaton (Katie), Michael Jacobsen Jr. (Rachel), Micah Jacobsen (Zoe), Jonathan Beaton (Jessica) and eight great grandchildren, Sofie Jacobsen, Madelyn Jacobsen, Emilee Jacobsen, Louise Beaton, Margaret Beaton, Quint Beaton V, Roger Gerlach and Avery Beaton, all of whom were blessed by her endless love and gentle guidance based on her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.
Marilyn will be laid to rest beside her husband at Greenlawn Cemetery in
Waycross, Georgia - reunited once again with the love of her life.
Those who knew Marilyn will remember her as the strongest, kindest, and most caring soul - a woman whose life was defined not by grand achievements, but by the quiet, consistent love she gave so freely to everyone around her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is watching over them from above, her love continuing to guide and surround them always. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A private family service will be held at the gravesite in
Waycross, GA. We welcome all who knew Marilyn to join us for a Celebration of Life at Springhill Baptist Church, Saturday, March 14, 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to celebrate her memory can be sent to Community Hospice of Amelia Island.
