There are countless children who are amazed by the balloon art Mel taught me, the way to make a child laugh or be at ease around clowns; to never forget you hold their little hearts in your hands for a few moments - and to never take life too seriously. We laughed, clowned, learned, did some business but in the end - 30+ years later - the thought of "MoMo" still makes me smile. I enjoyed our times together - even the Wartburg, IL town picnic! "Fair Seas and Following Winds", my old friend.

Being his nurse was such a blessing for me. Mel was a joy to visit with. Always smiling, no matter how much I was "torturing " him! My thoughts & prayers are with you Ruth.

I was saddened to hear about Mel passing away. I will miss him. He always had the time to talk with me about the things he had been dealing with in regards to his health. Sorry I will not be able to attend the Meet & Greet. I know Mel will forgive me. I will always be the better for having meet Mel and working with him on the Moroccan. Ruth, take care of yourself in this trying time and the times ahead. I am keeping you and the family in my thoughts and prayers.

Ruth and cousins,
I am sorry for your loss....my memory of Mel will be of a man whose laughter came easily and who thoroughly enjoyed making others laugh, especially as Momo the clown.Even though my dad was not his brother, he thought of Mel, Bill and Jimmy as brothers and LOVED being with family. I will always remember with fondness our family gatherings at the park at Pagedale as well as the holidays, birthdays at various homes playing cards, eating great food and enjoying everyone having fun.
Love and Peace,
Suzanne
