Merle Webster Obituary

WEBSTER Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Merle Ray Web Webster, 85, of Orange Park, Florida passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, November 22nd, following a brief illness. Web was born at home in Metz Missouri in 1926 to the late Vonda and Warren Webster. He joined the US Navy when he turned 18 and completed Navy Boot Camp in 1944. During his 24-year Navy career Web was transferred to many locations, including Jacksonville (in early 1950's), Rhode Island, Tennessee, Maine, New Jersey, Quito Ecuador, Greece, and Sicily. He worked as a pneumatics engineer at Johnson Controls, Inc. where he learned to use Computer Assisted Design (CAD) and developed a love of computers. Web was preceded in death by his ex-wife Lenora Wright Webster. He is survived by his daughter Patricia Ann Markham and granddaughter Savannah Meryl Markham; brother Robert Warren Webster, his wife Jackie, and their children Barbara, Ginger, Nancy, Matt and Elizabeth; and beloved family members Linda Dow, Curtis Dow and Tasha Cooper, and their spouses and children. Web also leaves many dear friends who will miss his conversation and companionship. Funeral services will be held at the graveside on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fort Scott National Cemetery, 900 East National Avenue, Fort Scott, Kansas.

So sorry to hear about Web. He helped me when I was in a tough spot, and I don't know where I'd be now without him. My thoughts are with you, Pat, and your daughter Savannah.

I am so sorry to hear about your father. You and your family meant a lot to me growing up and at times he was like a second dad as much time as we spent together. You are in my prayers.

We were so very sorry to learn of Web's death. I worked with him at JCI for 10 years and he was a frequent visitor and phone caller to both John & myself. I only spoke with him about two weeks ago and we really had a trip down memory lane. Our sincere condolences to Patty & Savannah,
Sincerely,
Sylvia & John Dunn
