MAY 4,2010 OLIVER FAMILY:I WAS WORKING AT THE JAIL WHEN MIKE STARTED WITH JSO. WE BECAME GOOD FRIENDS AND SHARED A LOT OF GOOD TIMES.WE HAD A LOT IN COMMON BECAUSE OUR FAVORITE MUSIC ARTIST WAS ELVIS. WE BOTH LATER BECAME POLICE OFFICERS. I STAYED OUT OF TOUCH WITH HIM AFTER HE RETIRED AND I DID NOT REALIZE HOW SICK HE WAS UNTIL CLOSE TO THE END. I WILL MISS HIM DEARLY WAYNE HUNT

We are so sorry that we could not be there for the services, just to wish the Oliver family our wish for them to have the strength of the Lord. Mike fought so hard to beat the POEMS and was so surrounded by his family and friends. His "Darlin" to everyone he met will be greatly missed. We know he will be missed by each and every family member is a special way.
Love to Karen and all the children,grandchildren; you were blessed in a great to have Mike in your lives and he in yours.

I offer my condolences to Mike's family. Mike was a year ahead of me at Andrew Jackson High School. Mike and I then worked together at the old jail together. Mike would always do his Elvis impersonations and keep us all entertained. Mike was really a fun guy to be around. He will be missed very much. I bet Mikes's showing Elvis a few good moves. J.K. Oliver Family,
I am currently a police lieutenant but when I was a young officer I would see Mike around the station. He found out my last name is Oliver too. From that point on he would always say "hey cousin Tammy" when he would see me. We always talked about how we might be related and he would say he was from the rich side of the family. He always made me feel welcome and was always smiling. I am sorry you have lost him but you will see him again.

One of the last times I saw Mike he was in a rehabilitation center and all he could think about was getting better so he could make sure everyone around him had their lives going in the right direction. So when everyone thought he needed them, all he could think about was what he could do in the little time he had left to make sure everyone he loved was taken care of. T.C.B. to the end.

Dear Oliver Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Mike back in 1976 when he spent time at our home with my husband Kenny as he studied for the test in order to be hired by JSO. That was Mike's dream and he was so proud when he accomplished that dream. I will be praying for you as you face the difficult days ahead. His pain is gone now and he is at peace with the Lord. I never thought that I would see the day that I would out live one of my brothers. How do you say good by to a brother you have know since his birth. As bad as it was to lose our Dad and Mom, losing my brother Mike is even worse.
Mike was more that a brother, he was also a good friend and someone I could always talk to and and confide in. Mike is already missed, however I am so happy that he is no longer suffering and in pain. Mike did fight a great battle with cancer for over 7 years and in the end cancer took his body, but his sole is in Heaven with many our his friends, and family.
I am sure Mike has already looked up Elvis and has had a wonderful meeting with him. Mike was an outstanding JSO Police Officer and loved the job and even some of his supervisors. Mike was the right man for the job as a Police Officer.
My brother Mike will be missed thats for sure, but at the same time we are happy that he is no longer in pain and is having a great time in Heaven! Mike, I miss you and love man, tell Mom, Dad and our family members hello and seak out those coupons on corn. Thank you, thank you very much!

As friends and classmates share the news, we are all grieved by the loss of a dear friend from High School. Mike was prominent in our lives then, happy go lucky always greeting you with a big smile. What a great person to have known and grown up with. Mike will surely be missed in mortality but never forgotten.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family during this difficult time. I've known Mike since childhood. I have fond memories of all of us hanging out at the gokart track and our high school years at Jackson. Mike was always a fun-loving person and a good friend. Mike was my brother, friend and hero. His journey with POEMS was more difficult than anyone could ever imagine but his faith in God and love for his family helped him to endure each day. While he was on earth he looked up to the Heavens to those he loved and now he looks down from the Heavens on those he loved and he has left behind. I loved him dearly and I will miss him.

I considered Mike my brother, because he and I were closer than my own brother. We went through some good times,and some bad times together, from school days to JSO Days and all the time in between.

I was saddened to hear of Mike's passing.Mike was my co-worker,my Masonic brother at Ezra,a fellow shriner,but most of all he was "Mike" my friend. I met Mike, as a young rookie on the police department. I must say, he was quite a character. I grew to like him and we became friends.He was a man of his word, a policeman's policeman,but above all he was a just and upright man.I loved his personal side, his parties,and his impersonations.I know that Mike suffered long and hard with POEMS,but make no mistake,he suffers no more.Mike is now with his Lord and Savior, as well as his many family members and friends who have gone before him.Our loss is Heaven's gain.You,his family,have lost a husband,a father,a brother,a uncle,a grandfather,and a master.We have lost a true,loving,and loyal friend. The days,weeks,months,and years to come will be tough,but our memories and God's love will pull us through.We are sad,but Mike is rejoicing.He misses us all as we do him,but he hurts no more.Heaven is rocking now,as Mike has now met his long-time idol,"Elvis".
