Dear Sharon & Tammy,

I was deeply shocked and saddened by Shawn's sudden passing. I so wish I could have been there for the funeral! I was moving my 22 year old son Stephen to New York when I received the news from mom and dad. I live near Atlanta and would have loved seeing Shawn and having him meet my family, I wish I had known he was living up here! Tammy I have tryed several times through the years to find an address, phone number or email for you; I would love to hear from you and catch up after all these years! I have thought about you and Shawn many times throughout the years, I have missed you! Being an only child, I don't have many cousins, I know that you may not remember much about me, but I am the oldest and remember you from the time you were born! You are my family and I love you! Sharon my thoughts and prayers are with you, I can't imagine the depths of your pain! I have four children; Christopher age-24, Stephen age-22, Stephanie age-15, and Courtney age 13. My sons are truly my Best Friends and the bond we share as Mother & son can not adequately be put into words. My heart aches for your loss and for Tammy's loss and Shawn's Fiancee's loss.
When I think of Shawn I can still see an adorable little blond haired boy with a happy, sweet smile. Please know that my deepest sympathys, my thoughts, and my prayers are with you! I would so love to hear from you, please contact me anytime!

With Love & Prayers,
Your (Niece and cousin)
Debbie (Ruby) Bianchi

I'll be coming to GA for business the week of the Aug. 20th - if you need a shoulder, just let me know as I'll be training only 45 min. east of Atlanta.

Shawn was a very close friend of mine first and foremost. I am deeply hurt that we lost touch with each other and I never got to say goodbye to him. My first garage band was with Shawn and Ashton. He taught me the little things about music that I still use and value to this day.For example singing harmonies. Yes, he was an amazing vocalist who preferred not to bring it to the front. Not his style, I thought that was pretty cool. We were brothers then and always will be. I will miss him and play a song in his honor every time I play from now on, and drink a toast to his memory at every special occasion. My condolences to all he left behind that were close to him. I know for a fact that mine was not the only life he touched in his own laid back way....

Sherry, Tammy & Family:
Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you during this time of sadness. I am so sorry. I found Shawn's name on the back of a 7-N CD case and did some digging-discovering that we were family. I'll never forget the look on his face when I walked over, introduced myself as his long lost cousin from West Virginia and proceeded to give him copies of old family photos of his grandfather, gg-father and ggg-father. He looked so stunned, shocked, then he hugged me like there was no tomorrow. We've had many long and short conversations over the years and he will be greatly missed. I know he's up there right now with all the Ruby boys and girls making beautiful music. We'll see you soon, Shawn. If you need anything, please let us know.

Love ya!

Shawn was a living legend. Now he is a real legend. I will never listen to "three wooden crosses" the same. for those of you who don't know - that was one of his favorite songs and was the song he listened to as soon as he fired the system up at the freebird. the first few thousand times i heard that song - i shed some slight tears - i never imagined i would be shedding tears listening to that song in memory of him. i think to all of us who knew him - a little part of him lives on in all of us. i will miss his laugh most of all. i realize he is in a better place. but that still doesn't make it hurt any less that i will not be able to call my friend when i want. my family's thoughts and prayers go out to his family. we loved him.

Shawn was married into my family through my uncle David Mills. But I always called him "MY UNCLE SHAWN."

He had the biggest heart and the most beautiful soul of anyone who has ever walked this earth.

I have been reliving times we just sat on the couch and laughed till we cried...or having my awesome uncle get me into Freebird Cafe'...or just always asking him if i could play with his gorgeous ponytail.

I attended the funeral and family viewing yesterday. Shawn was loved in sooo many ways by soooo many people.

He touched so many lives and is even my boyfriends inspiration for becoming a sound engineer, specializing in monitors.

He is walking with God now and i know he is with all of us everyday.

My prayers go out to Mrs.Sherrie, Mr. Reagor and Tammy and all others who are waiting until that day when we walk with Shawn again!

I had the honour and privalage of working with Shawn on a couple of Aaron Carter tours across the USA. We traveled a lot of miles together, had a few beers together, and shared a lot of good laughs together. He was an absolute professional to work with when the days where under the gun and sleep was minimal,he always had a great attitude.
But more than a technician he was an absolutely great friend who I and a lot of other Canadians will miss forever.
Cheers buddy.

Words cannot express the sorrow I have at the loss of such a fine friend and fellow human.I started Shawn in the sound business in the early 90s when he was playing bass in Chronic Reality.I will never forget the fun we had working on equipment at storage and doing shows at Pappa's,Shades and so many other places. He took the ball and ran with it,touring with Seven Nations and ending up back at FreeBird.I moved back from Atl in 2003 and he moved up there with a multiple fiddle show.He called me about a year ago and that was the last I heard from him.He was one of my best crew guys ever and the laughs and fun we had will be with me forever.See you in the next life,Groovy Ruby.Love and miss you.

Wow, so hard to believe that Shawn won't be answering his cell from some amazing Natoinal Tour or won't be calling me to find out if I know some random fact about a city he's passing through. I love this guest book since I can't be in Jacksonville to pay my respects so I can share and read the general consensus which is Shawn Ruby you have given us all so many GREAT memories. From Dewar's Days to The Olympics ("are you guys the bunnies and bears?")to NYC Marathon to Canada (potton) to your corner of the back of the bus to stonehenge (Happy Birthday Shawn Marque). From FU to I love you from MCDonalds to McDonalds, and most significantly us being in LA togehter crying all day on 9/11.
Now you are in heaven and I know you are a God child which makes it easier to reflect on the good times and makes it easier to feel like you will be watching all of us (probably laughing at us) from up above. God Bless you Shawn.

All of us who worked with Shawn in the Jacksonville area and were friends of his throughout the years have many fond memories. He was a gentleman, a talented musician, hard worker and a good friend. I don't think I ever laughed so hard as when he was doing sound at the Fair at the old Coliseum when Michelle, Katie and I surprised him with a Birthday cake decorated with spiders and horse balloons (the joke was he was scared of them) and the band sang to him. His sense of humor, work ethic and friendship will be missed by all, more than he will ever know.

News like this brings a sadness and a reflection and then a smile when thinking of Shawn. Scotland 1998 - a trip like no other with Seven Nations, Shawn and Les and where he named me U-Turn Billy and sent me in search of Slim Jims in every town and city. Sorry Shawn - they just don't have them there. The many Games and festivals across this country and the set-ups in the bars and pubs - he worked so hard and so long to make the music happen! The memories are good and the times were all worthwhile. It was a privlege to know him and Karen and I send our very best to the family and friends who we know will miss him everyday.

Sherrie, Tammy, Charlie, & Cary:
The feeling of sadness I could never express into words that I feel for you and all of us who have known Shawn.
He was one of the most amazing people I have met and I am so glad God brought him into all of our lives to makes us who we are today.
Shawn was a person who made you believe in yourself, and know your true worth.
There will never be a Shawn Ruby like the Shawn Ruby we have all known, and I am so thankful all of us have had the pleasure of having him as a part of our lives.
He was never as blessed as we will be, knowing such an amazing person. I will pray for all of you!

To Shawn's family and to Cary,
My best memory of Shawn was in Texas during a soggy June weekend with 8" of water soaking into the equipment and a Ryder truck pulled up to the fence. He wasn't having his best day, but you'd never know it from the big smile and shrugged shoulders - standing there soaked with the rain still coming down. He was doing the work he loved.
I'm so happy that you two found each other, Cary, and that the days were peaceful and full of love for both of you.
He was just the greatest guy and the space he leaves behind will never be filled.

To Shawn's family - We were so surprised to read about Shawn's death. Shawn worked for us for a number of years in the late 80's and early 90's but was more than an employee, he was a friend. We remained in sporadic contact with Shawn but had not seen him for a couple of years. Shawn was always quick with a smile and seemed to embrace life. I had the most wonderful opportunity to meet my cousin, Shawn, about 7 years ago at a Scottish Highland Games while he was the sound engineer for Seven Nations. Shawn was a look-alike of the Ruby boys from the hills of West Virginia. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to see him, share laughs with him and had the chance to chat with him about the Ruby boys (his grandfather, Garland, and my grandfather, Ralph, and their brothers and sisters) on numerous occasions through the last 7 years. To learn of his very untimely death is sad. To his Mother and Sister...our prayers and thoughts will continue to be with you for the days, weeks and months to come. Just remember that the extended Ruby family in West Virginia love you and will greatly miss Shawn. We pray for peace to comfort you. Love ya, Elizabeth.
