DARLENE CAPTAIN

DARLENE CAPTAIN Darlene J. Captain, 74 of Noblesville passed away on Tuesday January 9, 2024, at Wellbrooke of Westfield. Darlene was born on January 30, 1949, in Terre Haute to Gray Cecil & Betty Joan Burk. The Burks passed away soon after her birth and she was adopted and raised by Charles & Josephine (Lansaw) Prose. On November 30, 1991, she married Steve Captain and they enjoyed 32 years together before her passing. Darlene worked as a programmer at both GTE and Verizon. She was a member of West Street Christian Church and Phi Beta Psi Sorority. Darlene enjoyed baking and working with many different craft projects. Survivors besides her husband Steve include two children, Erin Dailey and husband Steve, Tipton and Daniel Captain of Indianapolis; one brother, Gray Prose and wife Karen and one sister, Cathy Bagley and husband, all of Terre Haute; five grandchildren. Funeral services for Darlene will be held at West Street Christian Church next Saturday, January 20, at 2:00 P.M. with Rev Ashley Sherard presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will also be on Saturday at the church from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Captain family in their time of need.
