Celia Andrews Obituary

Celia Sue Andrews
Celia Sue Andrews was an extraordinary woman - a caring sister, a devoted wife, an adored mother, a loving granny, and a genuine friend to so many. A lover of life and its simple joys - sunshine, an ice cream cone, solid gold oldies, and good family and friends - Celia lived a vibrant, humble, and fulfilling life. She courageously and peacefully left this world on Sept. 11, 2021, at age 67.
She was the daughter of the late Gladys and Wilbur Gou-gher of Kunkletown.
A proud 1972 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School and a 1974 graduate of Northampton County Community College, Celia earned her associates degree in early childhood education.
Celia married Michael Andrews in 1977 and together they had four children and seven grandchildren.
"When the student is ready, the teacher appears." Celia experienced and impacted others in both roles throughout her life. A lifelong learner, Celia was a patient and honest student of life - always learning, growing, and evolving. Celia was a devoted teacher and mentor to her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her many Girl Scouts.
Celia's warm and cheerful demeanor, radiant smile, contagious laugh, kind heart, and warm hospitality were her well known trademarks. Service was always important to Celia, and she could always be counted upon to happily step up as team mom, serve in PTO leadership roles, and, in her later years, take on and fulfill many meaningful commitments and fellowship activities - always with enthusiasm, a smile, kindness, and sincerity.
A spiritual woman with strong faith, Celia will be dearly and deeply missed by her family, husband Michael; daughters, Alicia (Ryan) Chatkin of Oakmont, Melissa (Jason) Bonser of Palmerton, and Rachael (Michael) Shafer of Palmerton; son, Mark, of Palmerton; 7 grandchildren (Riley, Camryn, Taylor, Jacob, Nathan, Marlee, and Ezekiel); sister, Cinda (Allen) Heydt of Jim Thorpe; brothers, Scott (Rollene) Gougher and Todd Gougher (Yvonne George), both of Palmerton; sisters-in-law, Teresa (Thomas) Roberts and Sharon (Kevin) Correll, both of Palmerton; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Celia will also be missed by her many wonderful, caring friends.
Service: A celebration of Celia's life will be scheduled later when we can congregate safely and without worry. If you wish to honor Celia in some way, in lieu of flowers, consider this: Live kindly, live honestly, live humbly and be of service every day. To all who have known and loved Celia, and who she has known and loved in return, you can hear her parting greeting, "Love you so."

Look to this day,
For it is life,
The very life of life.
In its brief course lie all
The realities and verities of existence,
The bliss of growth,
The splendor of action, The glory of power -

For yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is only a vision,
But today, well lived,
Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day.

Condolences to the Andrews family. I think Celia was the sweetest person I´ve ever met. She was always eager to help with projects in the classroom at Towamensing as her children went through the various grades. She had the most beautiful and contagious smile. The beautiful and moving tribute to Celia in the obituary truly honors her. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this very difficult time.

Ceclia was that petite, perky girl with a big smile. I do remember her. P.V. was a small school back then where most students knew each other. Bullying was not in our lexicon during those days. She grew into a beautiful person who was well respected. My sincere condolences to her entire family.
