Mrs. Doris Emmaline McCabe
Mrs. Doris Emmaline (Heintzelman) McCabe, 99, of Zionsville, passed away on Feb. 16, 2025, in the Valley Manor Rehabilitation and Care Center, Coopersburg. She was the widow of Thomas J. McCabe Jr., who passed away in 2007. They were married for over 50 years at the time of his death.
Born on Nov. 14, 1925, she was a daughter of Phaon and Hattie (Nothstein) Heintzelman of Lehighton.
During her childhood, she helped out in the family's butcher business, Heintzelman's Meat Market, Lehighton.
She graduated in 1943 from Lehighton Area High School and attended Allentown Business School.
She was employed as a secretary at Vail Chemical Company and John Hancock Insurance in Allentown for several years prior to her marriage.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren arrived. She loved to cook and could always be counted on to bake delicious pies for family events.
Her grandchildren will always remember dyeing Easter eggs and baking Christmas cookies each year with Grammy.
She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 65 years and made many lifelong friends along the way. She enjoyed bingo, bowling, word search puzzles, playing Rummikub and golf.
Doris was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Emmaus, for over 20 years. She enjoyed participating in the Fall Fest events and the Helping Hands ministry.
Surviving are her sons, Bob McCabe, and his wife, Margie, of Zionsville, and Mark McCabe, and his companion, Karen Richardson, of Turner, Maine; grandchildren, Brandon (Susan) McCabe, Steve (Alyssa) McCabe of Kutztown, Ben McCabe of Zionsville and Chloe (Aaron) Anthony in Illinois; and great-grandchildren, Summer Lovanh and Tommy McCabe and Saoirse McCabe of Kutztown. She is also remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends who were very special to her.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Joel Heintzelman; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Green and Cathy Szoldatits; and brothers-in-law, Earl Green and Alfonse Szoldatits.
Service: Funeral service 10:15 a.m. Saturday, March 1, Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, 415 S. Fifth St., Emmaus. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family. Viewing 9-10:15 a.m. Saturday, March 1, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the church.
