Edgar F. Smith

Edgar F. Smith, 87, of Walnutport, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital, Lehighton. He was the husband of Shirley M. (Kocher) Smith, whom he married on June 5, 1976.

Born in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Norman and Margaret (Prutzman) Smith.

Edgar served his country honorably and proudly as a member of the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 20 years of service as a technical sergeant. Following his military career, he worked as a lineman/installer for Service Electric Cable for more than 30 years before retiring.

He was a faithful member of Good Shepherd UCC in Slatington, and also a member of the American Legion in Lehighton and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Walnutport.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, he will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Todd Furler of Whitehall and Trevor Fronheiser of Walnutport; grandson, Michael Fronheiser; and sister, Clara "Dolly" Gardner of Allentown.

He was predeceased by brothers, Norman, Frederick and Gerald Smith.

Service: A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St., Slatington. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment with military honors to follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Allentown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Good Shepherd UCC, 3040 Mountain Road, Slatington, PA 18080.
