Frank Wehr Obituary

Frank E. Wehr
Frank E. Wehr, 86, of West Chester, formerly of Summit Hill, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Aug. 4. He was the devoted husband of Rose Ann (Turrano) Wehr and the beloved father of daughter Ruthann Waldie and son Frank A. Wehr.
For 16 years, Frank served as Clerk of Courts for Carbon County and was chairman of the Carbon County Democratic Committee. From 1971-81, he was the administrator of the former Coaldale State General Hospital. He also had served as the administrator of Weatherwood, the Carbon County nursing home, Weatherly, and the Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bethlehem. Frank was a Korean War combat veteran, having served proudly in the Army.
An accomplished vocalist, he sang at more than 2,000 weddings. He was the lead vocalist of the former Coaldale Victory Band and the Big Band Ambassadors.
Wehr was the former director of the choir at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill. Most recently, he sang with the West Chester Area Community Chorus at last Saturday's Phillies game.
Frank and his wife moved to West Chester in 1999, where he served as a tipstaff in the Chester County Courthouse, West Chester.
Surviving in addition to his widow and children are a son-in-law, George Waldie, and daughter-in-law, Beverly Wehr; three brothers, James of The Villages, Fla., Tom of Orwigsburg and Robert of Schnecksville; a sister Evelyn of Palmerton; five grandchildren, Samantha, wife of Mike Brown, George III, and his wife, Briana (Egan), and Frank E., Amanda and Alexis Wehr; and a great-grandchild, Sienna Rose Brown.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Leighton and Ruth (Hawk) Wehr; and three brothers, Russell, John and Donald.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, Calvary Lutheran Church 730 S. New St., West Chester, Pa. 19382. Interment, St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester. So sorry to learn of your loss. Frank was my administrator in Bethlehem and also a dear friend. He was a consummate gentleman and very much loved and respected by our staff. When he sang at our Christmas parties everyone was enthralled!!! May your memories bring you all peace.

Dear Wehr Family, I am sorry to hear of Frank's passing. My little brother and I spent quite a lot of time in his office at Coaldale when we were growing up and my dad was on the board of directors. My condolences to your family.
