John Schuchart Obituary

John L. "Jack" Schuchart, 75, of Wayne Avenue, Hometown, died Tuesday in Bethlehem. He was the husband of Nancy A. (Derr) Schuchart.
Prior to retiring, he had been employed as a Development Engineer for ICI Explosives, first in Valley Forge and later in Reynolds after moving back to Tamaqua after living in Lansdale for more than 32 years.
A native of Tamaqua, he was a son of the late William and Cora A. (West) Schuchart.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Tamaqua.
A 1955 graduate of Tamaqua High School, he graduated from Stevens Trade School in 1958 and attended classes at Muhlenberg College and Penn State Center, Lancaster.
A 50 year member of the Tamaqua Lodge 238 Free and Accepted Masons, he was also a member of the Lehigh Consistory, the Rajah Shrine in Brandon and the PA Manufacturers' Association.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are: two daughters, Lori J., wife of John Tondera and Lynn D., wife of Edward McDevitt, all of Allentown; one son, John W. and his wife, Alexis, of Hoover, Ala.; four grandchildren, Morgan E. McDevitt, Peyton R. Schuchart, Pierson M. Schuchart and Alexandra E. McDevitt; one sister, Joan Corson of Bloomsburg and her husband, T. Clark; one brother, Robert D. Schuchart of Allentown and his wife, Ruth Ann.
Services: 11 a.m., Saturday, Zizelmann-Roche Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua. Call Friday, 7-9 p.m. or Saturday, 10-11 a.m. Masonic services 7 p.m. Friday. Memorials in his name may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 200 Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua.
