Manuel R. Amorim

Manuel R. Amorim, 70, of Third Street, Palmerton, died peacefully on Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, 2024, in his home. He was the husband of Amelia A. (Pinto) Amorim since July 8, 1978.

Born in Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal, he was a son of the late Antonio Pereira Amorim and Gloria Maria (Rodrigues) Amorim.

He was employed by the former New Jersey Zinc Co., Palmerton, as a laborer and assistant furnace operator. He was a very handy and constructive person who enjoyed building and restoring his home and property.

Manuel was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton.

Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Jason M., and his wife, Tia, of Palmerton; two grandchildren, Isla and Rye; two sisters, Maria Dias of Palmerton and Carma, wife of Valdomar Varajao oin Florida; two brothers, Jose, and his wife, Lurdes, and Candido, andf his wife, Isabel, both of Palmerton; and several nieces and nephews.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 243 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. Call 10-11 a.m. Monday in the church. Future interment in Portugal.
