Ray Beaver Obituary

Ray J. Beaver

Ray J. Beaver, 84, of Weatherly, passed away early Tuesday morning, Nov.19, 2024, in the Forest Hills Rehabilitation Center, Weatherly. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia (Hovan) Beaver.

He worked as a welder and a millwright for Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 33 years.

Born on December 1939, in Shenandoah, he was a son of the late George and Margaret (Gannon) Beaver.

He was a 1957 graduate of the former Mahanoy City High School. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army, Infantry Division.

He was a parishioner of the former St. Jerome's Roman Catholic Church, Tamaqua. Ray was the quintessential example of hard work and dedication, both in his career at the Steel and as a father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family.

A devoted outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting with his son and grandsons.

Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Joan Smith, and companion, Rick Gomez, of St. Clair; sons, Ray J. Beaver Jr., and spouse, Susie Beaver, of Pottstown, and Michael Beaver in New York; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, George and William Beaver; and a sister, Peggy Beaver.

Ray's passion for his family and his unwavering spirit will forever be remembered.
