Ray E. Borger


Ray E. Borger, 79, of Wind Gap, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the Hospice House of the V.N.A. of St. Luke's. He was the husband of Grace (Hawk) Borger. They observed their 54th wedding anniversary in October.

He was a truck driver for Scotty's Fashions for 36 years before retiring in 1996.

Born in Kunkletown, he was a son of the late Calvin F. and Mamie E. (Roth) Borger.

He was a member of Hope United Church of Christ, Wind Gap.

Borger was a 37-year member of the Wind Gap Fire Company and was its Fireman of the Year in 2008.

He belonged to the I.L.G.W.U.

Surviving in addition to his widow are three sons, Dennis, and his wife, Jeanne, of Wind Gap, Garry, and his wife, Janet, of Kunkletown, and Blaine, and his wife, Lori, of Bangor; two sisters, Grace Brotzman and Lorraine "Tutti" Borger, both of Kunkletown; and nine grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother Earl; and two sisters, Helen George and Emma Costenbader.

Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, Hope United Church of Christ, Wind Gap, with the Rev. Dean Frey officiating. Interment, Wind Gap Cemetery. Call 9-11 a.m. Saturday. Contributions in his name may be made to the church, 701 Cherry St., Wind Gap, Pa. 18091, or to the Wind Gap Fire Co., N. Broadway, Wind Gap, Pa. 18091. Arrangements by Kresge Funeral Home, Rt. 209, Brodheadsville.
