Raynor Leiby
Raynor M. Leiby, 79, beloved husband of Joan (Wetterau) Leiby, to whom he was married for 57 years, returned home on the Lord's day, the 28th of February, 2016, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Walker Township, he was a son of the late Allen and Florence (Boyer) Leiby.
He was a 1954 graduate of Tamaqua High School.
Raynor fulfilled his passion for flying as a flight instructor for East Penn Flying Club and Delaware Aviation at the North Philadelphia Airport, and later as a captain for Eastern Airlines for 26 years. During this time he and his wife, Joan, ran a dairy farm, Schm-auch's Market, Tamaqua. They also founded Leiby's Carriage Service, featuring his beloved Belgian horses. He was a former member of the Little Schuylkill Lions Club, Air Line Pilots Association, PA Farm Bureau, a consistory member of Trinity UCC, Tamaqua, and a current member of Christ Evangelical Free Church, Lehighton.
Surviving, in addition to his widow, are a daughter Pamela, wife of Dr. Kirk A. Arner of Lehighton; three grandchildren, Attorney Jennifer Stevens, wife of Mark Stevens, Jessica Arner, and her companion, Ryan Pistone, and Kirk R. Arner; a niece, Lou Anne Bachert, and a nephew, Terry Bachert, both of Tamaqua; and a brother Byron, and his wife, Susan, and their children.
He was also preceded in death by a beloved sister, Hazel Bachert.
Service: Private funeral service at convenience of family.
